Certificate of Residency from BKK for address in Phuket

Featured Replies

New to this forum and can't see an answer on other threads, so apologies if I'm making people repeat themselves!

We're arriving in Thailand soon on non-immigrant 1 year ED visas (we are married Brits). We have a rental lined up in Phuket for 1 year with tenancy agreement, but we're arriving into Bangkok and staying there a couple of weeks first before we head down.

As we are travelling with a baby and 2 cats (don't ask!!!) we're thinking of buying a car if BKK and driving down slowly. My question is though, can we get a certificate of residency from BKK for a Phuket address? Anyone got any experience of that? And how long does it normally take to get the certificate if you can?

Many thanks!

Dont purchase a car in BKK it will be extremely difficult to do because of address. I wont say it cant be done but more than likely no you will not be able to get the cert in BKK. If you could get the car in BKK, the hassle of getting plates will make you pull your hair out. Purchase it in Phuket, so much simpler.

BKK-immigration will not issue you a certificate, as you do not do 90 day reports there. You could get one from your embassy.

Phuket might also not issue till you have done an extension and are doing 90 day reports there.

But think about what was told in above post.

Thought as much. Many thanks for the fast responses. Guess we'll fly straight to Phuket to minimise stress to cats, then head up to BKK at a later date.

Thanks again!

Do you really have a one year ED visa ?

If so do you realise that you will be required to leave the country every 90 days ?

I only ask as you are travelling with a baby. .

Yup, we used to doing border runs as we've had to do it for years in the Middle East. Baby doesn't know any difference. It's the cats that don't like travel!
