These days I see them everywhere around, pick-ups and limousines.

They have fitted smaller diameter than standard wheels, but they stick out of the bodywork.

Of course they have to drive slowly on the bad condition roads, and almost come to a stand still at speed bumps, otherwise they damage the bodywork.

Everyone want to fit the biggest wheels possible, because it looks much nicer, yet these idiots fit smaller wheels and make their ride less comfortable.

What's going on in these people heads? Do they think the car is faster now because the Tacho meter will show an incorrect speed?

When I see them coming with those wheels sticking out, and add to that lots of black smoke coming out of the truck exhaust, I feel my stomach turning already.

End of rant.

Stanced.

Nothing to do with stanced. The cars I'm talking about have smaller than standard wheels, with a big gap between tyre and bodywork, and they stick more than 15% of the surface out of the bodywork.

That is something completely different. I'm a car enthusiast nyself, and have owned many custom built cars in my life.

What I'm talking about just looks plain stupid, and is in my opinion illegal as well.

I agree, 22" rims on a truck is daft, but looks aesthetic, while small wheels sticking out looks stupid.

One mans meat etc.

World would be a much more boring place if everything was the same

Apparently I believe we are supposed to embrace diversity........cheesy.gifwink.png

You asked what is going on their heads?

Not much I guess whistling.gif

In the end they are not much different from hools on wheels in Europe/Germany.

Just that the police checks are much tighter there and they would not drive long with such wheels sticking out.

So much forbidden modifications in Germany.

I can only guess that also in Thailand you are not allowed to do just any modification.

But as usual: where there is no check/real punishment they will do.

In Europe they can afford to buy quality cars like BMW or they like.

Here they simply do a cheap choice and use pickups to modify with small wheels, low lying etc. which makes them practically useless as a pickup (transport vehicle).

With the limited selection of models in Thailand, you can't really blame people for trying to come up with different ideas to make their cars a little unique ;)

Going by the number of cars that I see in Pattaya with the wheels sticking out, it are the standard ones that look unique now.

In the UK it is illegal, dunno about in LOS.

What you're seeing is not smaller diameter than standard wheels but much wider than standard wheels (and/or spaced) fitted with undersized, and therefore stretched, lower profile tyres. That makes the wheels appear to be smaller diameter. It's just a fad.

The OP's true age may be why he doesn't get ittongue.png

I think you have a point.

As we grow older we also grow a sense for aesthetics, while the younger ones don't actually realise how stupid they look with those cars.

An extremely dangerous fad at that..
