Visa exemption at Laos border after a 60 day single Thai tourist visa.

Featured Replies

I got my 60 day single Thai tourist visa in Phnom Penh. I've been here for about 6 weeks. I now want go to Laos for a couple of weeks before coming back to Thailand for a week or so before my flight home.

Im aware the visa on arrival at land crossings has been reduced which is fine but some people have said I won't be entitled to it st the border crossing due to my previous 60 day tourist visa I got. Is this correct? I'm hearing lots of conflicting advice over the Thai visa!

Many thanks!

My understanding is that there should never be a problem with a first visa exempt entry, regardless of prior visa history, unless for some reason there was evidence you were working in Thailand. You should be fine.

There is no restriction on getting a visa exempt entry after having a tourist visa. Perhaps confusion from calling a visa exempt entry a tourist visa.

You will get a 15 day entry unless you are from a G7 country which allows a 30 day entry.
