NRC president says relatives must resign as NRC members' helpers


BANGKOK: -- National Reform Council President Thienchay Kirananda said if NRC members have appointed their close relatives as their assistants, they must resign in the same manner with relatives of members of the National Legislative Assembly.


He said the laws did not prohibit such practice but since the NLA has decided to ban such practice, NRC members must follow suit.

BANGKOK: -- Key members of the National Legislative Assembly and the National Reform Council have voiced their protest against a proposal of a member of the Constitution Drafting Committee that members of the “five political rivers” will be barred from politics for two years after they leave the offices.

Smoke problem in Lampang

LAMPANG: -- Smoke problem from widespread forest fires in Lampang has been so bad that provincial authorities have mobilized water trucks to spray water into the air to ease the problem.

Lampang deputy governor Mongkol Sooksai said today that the effort to spray water into the air to ease the smoke problem which started on Tuesday would last throughout the week until the air quality has returned to normal.

The deputy governor also ordered all district officers to watch out for “hot spots” or forest fires as they were shown on satellite images so that teams would be sent out to douse the fires.

Mae Moh, Muang and Jae Hom districts have been identified as districts with most hot spots.
