Any one tell me where I can get a UV filter and decent particulate filter system, the ones I've seen at building supply stores are the type that deliver a pathetic trickle from a 5 or 6mm outlet.

In issan nearest city Khon Kaen

I'm in Nong Khai, but havnt been satisfied with filters here in thai for heavy metal, parasite, particulate filtering. I'm in the states and will bring back a Berky filter.

5555 Yes I see I am not the only one thinking this post was a load of rubbish with a manufacturers own propaganda.BS

I guess we can add you to the TV bonehead list! This is a certified INDEPENDANT testing lab that has no relation to this filter company as I stated in my post. I also have test data from the Univ of Arizona, Louisiana Univ, State of California water test labs, as well as a few others.

Finally I could care less of you believe it or not. Sticking your head in the sand does not make the problem of unsafe water go away. Go back to swilling your brews and don't worry about it.

Now you're talking. This is a Berkey Black filter test results. Good luck finding one!

There is a "Water Ting" that extracts humidity from the Air and filters it. Tempted, but as with most water gadgets ive bought over the Years i would stll end up buying the stuff from Lotus as usual,or the Bombs from the local Truck.coffee1.gif

I just want to add a word of caution. Back last year or so I purchased the same Fitrex blue dome filter with the 4 PE filters to take out the sediment. I installed the unit on our incoming supply from the city (Ban Chang, Rayong). I knew the water had sediments in it hence the filter but what I was not aware of is the amounts of sediment and he increases in water pressure at night here in BC. In about one month I woke at 7 one morning to the sound of rushing water. I discovered that the Filtrex blue dome had exploded at the base where the locking collar holds it in place. So now I had to shut off the supply, place a bypass in the line and then contact the company. They were fairly responsive and sent a man around from Rayong to install a new cover under warranty. I felt satisfied. He also changed the 4 PE filters as they were totally full of sediment as shown in the previous pages here. He told my wife that the BC water is famous for the sediment as the pipes are always breaking in the area and they never flush the pipes when repairing. He also noted that the pressure at night goes up in the main lines and between these 2 things may have been the reason the top cover blew out.

A month or so later the cover blew again. I again contacted the company and they were willing to come again with another cover. I decided not to take them up on the offer as they could not provide me the answer to the question of what kind of pressures the filter can handle. It was clear to me the BC water pressure water too much for this plastic cover to hold the water so when the filter was clogged up with sediment the build up of pressure caused the cover to separate. I would expect this device to hold the pressure when clogged with dirt and just stop the flow. If the unit was designed better there would be a by-pass pressure relief of some sort that when the filters are plugged up and cannot pass the water the by-pass would open and relieve the pressure.

Bottom line is I removed this filter from service and trashed it. Lost the initial investment and cost of the expensive filters. I did not know of this supply company and paid about 300B per cartridge.

So beware of this fault in the Filtrex filters if you have them or plan on buying one

For water filters and media that goes into water filters you might consider the opinion and offerings of a shop owner who speaks English that actually sells the filters and media for filters to the local water bottlers. Cost and quality of the results may play a role in what shop a water delivery supplier selects and where that for water delivery business buys the materials that go into the water filters. Every province in Thailand has water delivery trucks and they all must buy the water filtration equipment from a supplier they trust. I have priced many water filters over the years. I've seen water filter shops open and then close in Buriram Province. I've noted which stores in Buriram were responsive to my concerns and which shop could explain to my wife how to backwash the filters. The Fitrex filter looked very interesting to me, but I had been cautioned on that filter. The post from Longball53098 confirmed what I had been told. Hence I have three separate sediment filters in conjunction with a Mazuma carbon water filter and a Mazuma resin water filter and not one 4 filter unit. Perhaps the OP can have his wife ask the "water delivery man" where that delivery service buys water filtration equipment and the filters that they use to bottle drinking water. There must be suppliers in every province in Thailand that sell proper water purification equipment at a sensible price.

Isaan, and yes, this is Govt piped water

Where did you get the filter? And price if you don't mind... How often do you need to change the filters?

I have to change them every 6-8 weeks. As for the price, I used to buy them at HomePro, but thanks to KhunBENQ he gave me a link to an online retailer that sells them at considerably less price, 20เธฟ each

The filter unit itself I bought from HomePro, about 2000เธฟ I think. It;s made by Filtrex

A great discussion by yourself & khunBENQ for the washing machine filters, have many ruined clothes, order went in today!

I can see from the picture Ginboy posted that the clamp to hold the cover is adjustable in strength.

The pressure build up has nothing to do with clean or dirty filters, because even with free flow through of water, when your tabs are closed the pressure in the system will always be equal to the pressure of the mains.

When water flow blocked the pressure will also be the same, pressure doesn't build up it can never get any higher than the source provides, so clearly your cover wasn't locked properly.
