Another boring thread about backups.

Featured Replies

my PC has four drives (not partitions!). the C: drive is cloned each and every evening on a different drive. should "C:" have any specific problems i am up and running again in less than 60 seconds by shutting down, new start and select different starting drive in BIOS.

Any reason why you don't simply use RAID with 2 drives and then clone the RAID ?

why make it complicated when a simple method works perfect? plus not using RAID triples the number my clones, i.e. should something (e.g. a virus) surface on a thursday it could be that the wednesday clone is infected too. with a total of 4 drives split in RAID you are lost. with cloned single drives you still have the tuesday and monday "edition".

very important low volume data a backed up automatically dozens of times daily on external drives.

Yes, you can never have too many backups of your data. Personally I dont worry too much about imaging the entire drive as it is quite easy (and usually quite beneficial) to completely reinstall Window

  • It takes me the better part of a day to install Windows, drivers, other proggies like photoshop, download, install and configure Cobian, install Office, browser, configure which proggies I want to pin
