About 9 months ago I was recorded speeding by some kind of automated radar in SingBuri. I didn't find out about it until recently while attempting to pay my road tax. Can't renew until the tickets paid. I'm sure they mailed a citation to pay, but unfortunately I moved, never changed the address in the trucks book and mail doesn't get forwarded. The SingBuri PD says because so many months have passed the fine has to be paid at their location (can't mail it).

I live outside of Chiang Mai and really don't want to go down there. Is anyone aware of alternatives to this trip?

Thanks in advance!

Ha!! Not only in Thailand. I used to own a fleet of trucks, mostly vans. Drivers would get parking tickets and tear them up. All commercial vehicle registrations expired on December 31 but you could not renew until December 1. I would have to go to the Motor Vehicle Dept, wait in long, long lines (could only do 4 vehicles at a time), get a print out for each truck of violations owed and then drive all around the entire state...to each individual town hall and pay each ticket to get renewal clearance..and some town halls only operated one or two days a week.....and to make it all worse, by the time I paid them, fines had tripled or more with late fees.....used to take the entire month to do it....not fun.

It was to get away from nightmare situations like you describe that I was happy to leave Farangland.

Now it is beginning to feel just like home.
