    Proof of income and proof of bank balance are two different things as far as applying for extension is concerned. Proof of income requires an affidavit from your embassy.

It wasn't him, and I find no fault with his reaction - as it merely confirmed that the officers here can do as they please. (Actually, the older gentleman has been fairly helpful, and always polite for me).

Immigration Volunteer seems to be a thankless job. It appears that they have zero authority, must cater to the whim of the immigration officers, and are absolutely not permitted to apply common sense. I don't know how anyone could do that job day in and day out.

Another example: On another visit, there was a minor issue with the forms I downloaded, completed and brought with me. Volunteer told me "You did everything 100% correctly - but it's wrong". Meaning, sorry but these officers don't follow the official rules and procedures.
