I think this fear of sickos is over-done.

There are no more now than there were then, it's just that it's reported more.

I also grew up in the 60's and 70's. Me and my mates saw our fair share of flashers and got propositioned.

We just laughed and/or ran away. As long as we weren't alone, but, playing with our mates, there was nothing to fear.

Maybe that's the trouble. Many kids are solitary now because of the parent fear factor.

Unigate? Pah!. I did a milk round with the Co-Op.

Doing a cross country run at school during freezing snow, and hitching a lift of a milk float, half the way back, the pe master was astounded when we jogged through the school gates to finish in the top ten,of course a sneak gave us away and we had three of the best across the buttocks,{the cane, just to clear any confusion].

Oh the grand old days of Britain. Asians and Blacks discriminated against. Gays hounded by the law, back-alley illegal abortions.

theres allways bloody one to try and spoil a good thread,,

its about nice memories,,, wind you neck in and p$ss of to another thread,

and there was some great TV programs that you wouldnt get away with now, but they were funny from BOTH side,

love thy nieghbour,, we were white honkies,,, the 2 wifes got on great in the program and the blokes just used to call each other names, it was all good fun, but i suppose him above will try and twist it,

and yes ive got some great black friends, right from school to the present day

Many "Chippies" also sold alternatives to fish such as Sausage ( battered) , Faggots, Pies and Mushy Peas!

Not in the 1950's those innovations came in around the early to mid 1960's

In my young days we still had ration books.sad.png

Were ration books rationed ?

Playing jacks with a little ball and some metal cross things.

Playing marbles on a drain cover.

Riding a train and watching the world go by. The world to kids these days is a 6 by 4 inch screen.

7 Inch singles with a big hole in the middle.

And the original black and white Clangers, Hectors House, Magic roundabout.

The memories come flooding back to a time far more innocent.

Almost forgot the name and number gun where you twisted it to make words or numbers then snapped it off and stuck the label to things.

Farewell to the B.B.C. Home Service with the shipping forecast.

I bought this identical radio in about 1960, ex still has it, last time I saw it some years ago now it would still work if you put a battery in. I have recently seen copies of this Bush radio in Australia but with modern innards.
