I live in Nong Khai. I am looking for a pharmacy that can send this medicine. I can pay in advance via e banking.

The Bangkok South East Pharmacy in Sukhumvit 5 doesn't have it yet. They have the imported expensive Serc Betahistine dihydrochloride from France. Thank you in advance for your help.

My friend just found the name from 2 companies in Bangkok, who produce this Betahistine dihydro chloride 16mg. I asked them ( Bangkoklab and Sriprasit ) by mail to confirm that information. More info has to follow hopefully.

There are several locally made brands of this. Best to contact the distributors and ask them for name of a pharmacy in Nong Khai they have supplied to.

Most local brands are betahistimn mesylate rather than dihydochloride. For the dihydoCL form, only local brand is:

Stei (8 and 16 mg, Betahistine diHCl) Distributor: SPS Medical el: (+66) 2437 0343 -5, (+66) 2862 0180 -2 fax.png Email: [email protected]

Brands containing betahistine mesylate (which should be OK but dose differs a little, 6-12 mg rather than 8 - 16).

Behistin Distributor: Central Poly Trading tel: (+66) 2985 5855 (10 Lines), (+66) 2985 5860 email.png Email: [email protected]

Betahis distributor: Farmaline tel: (+66) 2219 2780 -1, (+66) 2214 3212 -3

Betris Distributor: Siam Pharmaceutical Tel: (+66) 2625 9999

Merislon Distributor: DKSH Tel: (+66) 2220 9000 , 1364 (Call Center) Email: [email protected]

Merlin Distributor: T.O. Chemicals Tel: (+66) 2275 6053 -9, (+66) 2277 4141, (+66) 2277 0187, (+66) 2693 1687 -94 email.png Email: [email protected]

Thank you very much for your information Sheryl. I was looking for the dihydro chloride variant, because I have the feeling that the mesylate versions work slower and shorter. Thank you again.

Thank you sdanielmcev. I am afraid there is no alternative for me. I asked a second opinion from 2 internists in Nong Khai and Udon. They confirmed that this is the best option for me.

One from the "Tong" pharmacies in the Nong Khai Chinatown, the one just next to Cute Press beauty shop sells STEI 16mg for 500 Baht per 100 tablets, that is 80 Baht more than the normal price in Khon Khaen.

Thank you for your information chubby. 4 years ago I suffered from a mid ear infection during a very cold holiday in Amsterdam. A few months later I was admitted in hospital because of labyrinthitis. After treatment with cinnarizine and domperidone the symptoms disappeared. But I have to take 2 or 3 times per day Betahistine 16mg since then, because of (mild/imbalance) vertigo.

Hi, I have had extreme vertigo for 10 years now. It come and goes without warning. I can no longer go swimming in the sea, as I had an attack while snorkeling and it frightened me. I didn't know which was up and which was down. My girl friend pulled me out and just laid me on my stomach in the shoreline for 30 minutes, because I just couldn't move any further. Also I have had an attack once or twice on the motorbike, but can stop and rest quickly. But I wouldn't drive a car anymore. Too dangerous.

I heard that a passenger Singapore airline pilot crashed his plane due to vertigo killing everyone on board.

My doctor cannot recommend any surgery or exercise. In fact they don't know much about it.

I have been getting my Betahistine from the NHS in the UK on a repeat prescription. My family sends it out, but it is a hustle for them I have actually run out and now I have been taking Merislon 6 mg Betahistine Mesilate which works fine and is available over the counter in most Thai pharmacies. They cost 90 baht for a strip of 10.

Actually, I think one 6mg x 3 per day dose works fine for me.

I had been taking Cinnarazine for 3 years which my UK doctor recommended, but after eventually reading the warning leaflet it stated; Prolonged use can result in Parkinsons disease. Bloody idiot!

My Thai doc recommended Betahisine which has very few side affects.

Sounds like you have a similar situation to me.
