Thailand is kicking off two festivals this weekend: the Splash and Spice Festival and the Pattaya International Music Festival 2015. The music festival will run from March 20-22, while the food festival will run until May 31.

The Splash and Spice Festival gives foodies the chance to dine on Thailand’s delicacies, with 40 of the country’s high-end restaurants participating. Special deals will be offered in the country’s biggest tourist hotspots: Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Hua Hin, Pattaya, Samui and Phuket. Authentic Thai cuisine will be served as well as dishes unique to each region.

As part of the ‘One Price Point Menu’ program, guests visiting standalone restaurants and restaurants inside upscale hotels will be table to take advantage of reduced-price lunches between Baht 749 and Baht 1,499 per person. Participating hotels include Double Tree by Hilton Hotel, Garden Cliff Resort & Spa in Pattaya, Avista Hideaway Resort & Spa-Phuket, Hilton Hotel Sukhumvit Bangkok and Dusit Thani Hua Hin.

The Splash and Spice Festival is an annual event originally initiated by Thailand’s Tourism Authority and VISA. Typically, the festival lasts just one month, but the event has been extended to three months this year. Northeastern Thailand’s Udon Thani joins the festival this year as well.

Meanwhile, Pattaya will host the country’s biggest music festival this weekend on Pattaya Beach Road. The 13th annual Pattaya International Music Festival will run from March 20-22 and feature performances from Thai and international artists. Two stages, one near the Hard Rock Hotel and the other near Walking Street, will host a diverse range of artists from pop to rock, jazz and hip hop.

Tourism of Thailand governor Thawatchai Arunyik stated that the festival has helped Pattaya develop a positive image as a tourist destination with modern infrastructure, great attractions and high-standard accommodation.

Among the artists expected to perform are Buddha Bless, Retrospect, Gold Red, Slot Machine, Mocca Garden and Playground. Artists will take the stage around 7pm and play until midnight.

All these festivals are meant to take our eye off of the ball. The ball being the real problems that exist here/world wide today now. The media are programmed to take our minds off of the real problems of life. I will not go into this long list as it hurts my brain to much. When I think to hard on the real problems the shape shifters enter my brain and take control.

Yes just look at the Thai TV programs, when did you ever see a proper documentary on social problems, or a politician being grilled and put on the spot? Thinking is not really a Thai thing is it. The only time injustice or poverty are highlighted on the TV it's always from a sentimental perspective, never any analysis, or possible solutions thrown about. Then of course it's almost all dumber than dumb lakorn laced with racism, elitism and nationalist clap trap. Most Thais have no minds to divert, they are living in the matrix, the outside world does not really exist for them and they live in the best of all countries, will they ever wake up?

When it comes to music there is no protest music, no real social commentary and no rocking the boat regarding politics or injustice. Bread and circuses, make that som tam.

Is that a misprint? These are reduced prices? For noodles and rice?

Can't wait to hear the dinner prices.

Yup. Cheap to live in Thailand.
