Thais can sign message of condolences at Singapore Embassy

BANGKOK: -- The Singapore Embassy allowed Thais to sign messages at condolences to honour the late former prime minister Lee Kuan Yew from Monday to Sunday.


The embassy is opened for the condolence message signing from 10 am to 6 pm until Saturday. On Sunday, the messages can be signed from 10 am to 3 pm, Singapore Ambassador Chua Siew San said.

PM expresses grief over Lee Kuan Yew’s death

BANGKOK, 23 March 2015 (NNT) – The Prime Minister today expressed his grief for the passing of Singapore’s first Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew.


According to Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha, he has postponed his official visit to Singapore and expressed his grief for the passing of Singapore’s first Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew, adding that he is waiting for an official invitation for the funeral from the Singapore government.

Meanwhile, his visit to Brunei will continue to take place as scheduled on 25-26 March 2015.

The Prime Minister also said the explosives found near the location of the cabinet’s meeting in Prachuap Khiri Khan province were more than likely discarded army explosives, and that the meeting would proceed as planned, on 27 March 2015.

CP Group denies responsibility for haze in northern provinces

BANGKOK: -- The Charoen Pokphand Group has denied that farmers under the contract farming arrangement with the company were responsible for starting forest fires which caused smoky haze blanketing several northern provinces in the past few weeks.

Four more suspects sought over grenade attack at court

BANGKOK: -- Police are obtaining arrest warrants for another four suspects accused of involvement in the hand grenade attack on the Criminal Court earlier this month, Metropolitan Police Bureau chief Pol Lt-General Sriwara Ransibrahmanakul said Monday.

The four men were identified by a police source as Wichian Chaloyram, Wit, Prathueng and Rung. The source did not give details on their alleged crimes in the grenade attack late on March 7.

JAKARTA, Indonesia: -- The government of Indonesia has announced new measures designed to help boost the number of tourists visiting the South East Asian country. Beginning in April, visa requirements will be waived for nationals from additional 30 countries, making a total of 45, allowing them to visit Indonesia for short-term stay without visas. However, once again, Australia has been omitted from that list.
