BANGKOK, 27 March 2015 (NNT) - The Moral Promotion Center has organized the 7th National Morality Assembly, with all groups attending in a joint discussion to discuss ways to effectively strengthen Thai morality.

Concluding today, the two day assembly titled “Collaboration to drive a Moral Society towards Reform” was held at the Government Complex on Chaengwattana Road. The assembly brought together 1500 attendees from 52 networking organizations including spiritual leaders from all religions, governmental ministries and organizations, and the general public to jointly discuss the different ways to build Thai morality. This discussin follows a growing number of case studies of questionable behaviors in Thai society.

Six policies were chosen from the discussion to be proposed to Prime Minister General Prayuth Chan-Ocha, who would consider how the recommended criterion could help strengthen Thai Morality.

The National Moral Assembly's first policy supports the Constitution Drafting Committee's goal to incorporate public participation, and the decentralization of power in the constitutional structure. This policy will help create a genuine democracy based on moral quality, ethics, and good governance.

The second policy recommends that the Government should make morality, ethics and good governance central to the country’s national agenda. High moral and ethical qualities are to be promoted as the standard for Thai people, once approved by the National Moral Assembly. The network society aims to facilitate a moral society; although principles and processes must be incorporated into the country's development indicator.

In its third policy, the center suggests public involvement will play an important role in propelling the country towards becoming a moral society. Independent organization with development funds should be supported to work towards moral quality, ethics and good governance.

The government should be required to identify the public who possess moral qualities and ethics, and help promote these selected individuals to be role models for society. The fourth policy will see the Moral Network allocating media space to broadcast and publicize acts of morality and ethical behavior.

Institutions should be supported by the government in its role of developing moral qualities, ethics, and good governance among government officials and politicians at all levels. This fifth policy will be a continuous process.

The final policy suggests the government should adopt the conclusions reached by the National Moral Assembly to develop as policies, and related government agencies should support the development of moral quality, ethics and good governance in order to maximize effectiveness at all levels.

How to expect moral of people lead by a self-elected dictator who put down and elected gov and where all gov agencies are corrupt and army and police misuse their power for personal enrichment! A country where rich have rights and poor are free to be murdered cannot expect to be recognizedf as civilized community with ethics and moral!

".....agencies should support the development of moral quality, ethics and good governance..........."

Well, since "moral quality", "ethics" and "good governance" have all been conspicuously absent from Thailand for as long as I can remember, that really doesn't leave much to "develop"................
