Has any one applied for a marriage visa at Maptaphut Immigration Office (Rayong).

How long does it take to get approved, When should I apply if my yearly retirement visa is due to be renew on the 10th of October.

Any thing special you had to do with your paper work.

Thanking you.

Do you wish to obtain an extension of stay based on marriage ?

There are no marriage or retirement visas issued in Thailand or anywhere!

If my opening assumption is correct an application could be made 30 days prior to your current extension of stay expiring.

The extension based on marriage will result in a 30 day under consideration stamp. After 30 days you have to go back to immigration (this time you do not need to take your wife with you) to get the final 1 year extension of stay.

You could apply in September. They accept either 30 days early or 45 days early.

If you've been renewing it at immigrations, it would be an extension of stay based on retirement, not a visa.

Where have you done previous extensions? Have you recently moved? You can't do extensions at randomly chosen immigrations offices. They will require some proof that you are now a resident of the area they serve. In theory, though rarely in practice, you should have reported your change of address and/or done 90 day reports at this office if you shifted residence awhile ago.

If you have hitherto extended your stay on the basis of retirement, why are you planning to seek your next extension on the basis of marriage? It will require considerably more paperwork on your part and, in the case of your first extension on this basis at least, a home visit by immigration officers, to whom you will need to provide a hand-drawn map showing where your humble abode is located in relation to their office.

And Maptaput (who are my local immigration office) definitely insist on a successor extension of stay being applied for no longer than 30 days before the existing extension is due to expire.
