The hand in the small of the back

Featured Replies

I've noticed this a lot more of late. Sour-faced

men with their hands welded to the small of a

woman's back virtually pushing her through

doors & steering her through crowds as if the

woman is incapable of navigating obstacles

under her own steam. I've seen the looks on

some the women's faces and they don't look

at all pleased so I know it's not welcome.

Do you do this and if so, why? People I've asked

suggest it's nothing more than a man taking care

of and 'guiding' his woman but others say it's

about everything from 'ownership' to 'marking out

territory' and 'fear of loss' to another man which,

admittedly, I find more plausible given the nature

of the relationship between a lot of guys and

their Thai partners.

Don't go anywhere with your misses is the answer.

She won't talk to you over lunch and always pushes up your expenses.

Some old guys never learn.

Never seen it done...Much too controlling even for the "submissive Thai's"

Who-ever the Farang is in the relationship it is they that have the problems - not the missus.....she's doing the best she can with the loser she's dealt with......

I started a similar thread a while back. As I remember it didn't go down that well.

So you did, SB. I see the usual offenders

were out in force defending their right to

publicly display ownership rights in a

country where such behaviour is generally

frowned upon.

It's interesting how we can have page after page discussing the minutiae of Thai behaviour - leaving stickers on fridges etc - but try and start a conversation about certain aspects of expat behaviour and it quickly becomes clear that you've crossed some sort of line.
