Getting Married on Koh Samui

Featured Replies

Hello

Can folks please advise me on how to get married on Koh Samui?

I am referring to the legal administrative side of marriage. I am already married via Thai traditional wedding.

Thank you.

I will move to marriage forum leaving a link on Samui Forum.

Marriage requirements should be the same all over Thailand.

It's really easy, just modify one sentence for use in Thailand: Change 'Until Death Do Us Part' into 'Until My Bankruptcy Do Us Part'.

That's it.

Just say ,..... " I do"tongue.png

No, you got it wrong Jimmy....he should just simply say "i don't"......and run as fast as he can!! :-) ;-)

Very easy, you will need affirmation that you are able to marry from your Embassy.

The affirmation must be translated to Thai and the translation must get approval from ministry of foreign affairs.

She needs id card and copy house book.

Go to the Amphur in Nathon bring 20 baht.

Exactly right. We did this lastSeptember and much smoother than I expected. Your Embassy website should should have the forms you need to fill in (for the British Embassy you have to retype the form). The translation people we used offered a service to take the completed documents to the MFA and mail them back to us. This was pretty cheap and saved us having to spend an extra day in Bangkok waiting for the translation and hanging around at the MFA. At Samui Amphur Office the staff were very helpful and but also really slow. Get there early and it should be quicker. Also take photocopies of your passport and documents or they will send you down the road to get copies.
