Prayut to get names of 100 corrupt officials next week

hmmm..... 100?

There isn't a paper towel going into a military base without an official taking a cut.

Sorry but once again this looks like it's going to be an opponent cull rather than a genuine effort against corruption.

So what if these corrupt officials are all of the one colour. At least some get cleaned up and when the other party gets back they will have an example to chase corruption.

All being from one color would suggest a motive different than cleaning up the system.

Why next week? What's wrong with handing the list over tomorrow? Or today even? The PM doesn't take days off.

The list is dynamic, when the music stops if you haven't made a donation your name stays on the list.

This dog and pony show is just re aligning the trough. Remove the enemy and replace with your own...corruption still runs amok. When Prayut and his backers were conspiring, after their political wing got snotted, after the last election their aim was to destroy all opposition , mainly Thaksin, cut off their finances and smash the network. Effectively this will become another Myanmar...a one party state. It will continue until the Thais grow a pair

Most people calling for the heads of 100's even 1,000's, couldn't name two officials. laugh.png

Don't bet on it. One government official living in my area who 4 years ago after the flood didn't have enough money to repair his home etc. then was lucky enough to get a job as a governor of a province. I'm told his rate is 50,000 /month and his wife's about 30,000 so total income is about 80,000/month or 1,000,000 baht per year. Today he is driving a 7 series BMW and his wife is also driving a new car plus the home has been refurbished since the flood with new furniture and not cheap stuff. Many on here likely have pensions of 1,000,000 baht per year or higher but how many of them drive 7 series BMWs. I for one hate to see corruption and what it does to this country and hopefully the PM will continue his fight against it. I agree corruption is most everywhere and the battle will take time but I think he is doing the right thing, starting from the top. I'm no fan but I do wish him all the luck.

Do you know what the general drives?cheesy.gifcheesy.gifcheesy.gif

The joint declaration from General Prayuth and his wife, Naraporn - who has an additional 26.3 million baht in assets - includes more than 14 million baht worth of cars,

among them a 2011 Mercedes-Benz S600L and a 2009 BMW 740Li. - See more at: http://www.stasiareport.com/the-big-story/asia-report/thailand/story/thailands-pm-prayuth-declares-over-4m-assets-20141101#sthash.GeYXjJaE.dpuf

Just 100?

100

1000

10,000

Whatever the number, some will comment.

I don't know who is on the list.

I am not working for the Thai government.

I don't have an inside source.

I don't know what is going to happen.

I do know, that it is not my business.

The point is not 100, 1000, 10000 or 100000.

The point is after these people are caught, what are you going to do with them?

Transfer to another post? Sack them without any punishment? Forgive them after they agree to return the money? Or charge them to court where they will be given bail, appeal, bail, appeal, bail appeal until their last day on the earth?

People are not afraid because they know the laughable consequences.

The current authorities need to make sure the corruptors are going to the real jail. Not the bullshit again, bail - appeal, bail - appeal. After 10 years still bail - appeal.

Once they can make it happen, the people will know you mean serious business. People will consider a lot to commit corruption. I believe it will significant go down after the current govt show us they are damn serious this time.

Nonetheless, it is a good start and keep the good start continues.

Let's wait to see a brand new Thailand, first class nation in the coming years..

Corruption in Thailand

The bad news:

In the past 15 years, according to Transparency International's Corruption Perception Index, Thailand has not made any progress.

2000 3.2/10 (rank 60 of 90)
2002 3.2/10 (rank 64 of 102)
2004 3.6/10 (rank 66 of 146)
2006 3.6/10 (rank 63/163)
2008 3.5/10 (rank 80/180)
2010 3.5/10 (rank 78/178)
2011 3.4/10 (rank 80/182)
2012 37/100 (rank 88/174)
2013 35/100 (rank 102/175)
2014 38/100 (rank 85/174)
The (sort of) good news:
Myanmar, Cambodia, Laos, and Vietnam are worse.

It would appear that this Bonanza owner is the son of former red shirt leader Paiwong Taechanarong. LINK

It would appear that Paiwong began accumulating this land in 2004.

I wonder how many reds are on this list of 100. I hope the list is both sides of the aisle.

everyone is free to bring his list of corrupt officers to the Army,

not to the red caped police !!

I beleave 100% in the army, any such list will be investigated for further,

never mind whic party the culptries are from;

Just everyone have to take care about " Lease Majestee !!

Spare a thought for those on the next list, just how much face have they lost by not making it to the Billboard Top 100 First Edition ?

Best on the ball comment for a long time - well considered.

I'm not quite understanding the point of announcing this in the newspapers BEFORE giving the list to Gen. Prayut. I would have thought it would be more appropriate to hand him the list and walk out the door of his office and announce it.

I also hope the list includes both red and yellow. If it contains only people who were associated with the reds it will obviously be covering up the corruption of yellow-aligned officials.

Is there 100 working posts available to transfer them too, because that's all that will happen

Of course there are. If there aren't, Gen. Prayut has the authority to create them in accordance with Article 44.

I missed something I think. Since when this near inhuman behaviour? 'transfer to a 'working post'. What's next, expect them to be 'active' as well rolleyes.gif

I'm surprised PM Prayut doesn't have the list yet as the OP says

"The Centre for National Anti Corruption (CNAC) has compiled the list, which will be submitted to the secretary general of the Office of Public Sector Anti-Corruption Commission (PACC) next week.

The PACC secretary general, who serves as the CNAC secretary, will hand the list to CNAC chair Prayut."

I know the PM is a busy man, but I hope he takes being 'chair' serious enough ermm.gif

The PM may be surprised to find members of his appointed rulers on the list...

Since the list only contains names of government bureaucrats, I guess the PM would indeed be surprised to see the name of members of his NCPO, NLA, cabinet on that list.
