skyfall-11.jpg?391a6d

PATTAYA: -- In an unusual but responsible move, the owner of the Skyfall Go-Go Bar, which is at the center of an incident which occurred in the early hours of Monday involving a Polish Tourist who was allegedly assaulted by one of the Security Guards at the bar, has decided to shut down and offer extra staff training to avoid a similar incident from occurring there again.

The move has been applauded by local authorities who are impressed at the move, however a report of the incident has been sent to the Governor of Chonburi Province who may still decide to temporarily close the venue.

So they are trying to close for a week in the hope that they can avoid enforced closure for a month. And that is responsible.

Jesus, some folk on here!

The owner didn't assault anyone, he's / she's showed some initiative by voluntarily closing the business (something I don't recall hearing in Pattaya before), and organising staff training.

Seems he / she can't do right for wrong by some TV members!

Whether the reasons are genuine for voluntarily closing, or as you sceptically imply to try to reduce a lengthier forced closure, I don't know, but what would you have suggested the owner do more responsibly?

oh yeah :(/

Commendable for this owner to pro-actively address this. Now, if he could only teach the other portion of the population that engages in extreme violence in groups. I have seen many fights, and not one of them was ever "mano a mano". I am not painting everyone with the same brush, but I am using quite a wide brush. I once say a beating by a bar "bouncer" who lived up to his title bouncing a man's head off the concrete. I knew if I had intervened to aid this man, I too would have become a victim and quite likely a corpse.

I just saw a wee bit of a different version of why this place closed over on puketwan. These stories conflict in why the closing occurred.....

@woody1 - Rod is exactly right. These bar owners are not pillars of society, upstanding corporate citizens etc. They're out to make a buck off the back of prostitution - not moralizing, just telling it as it is. Closing for a week to retrain staff? Do you not see the absurdity in that? Train a bouncer who loves being a thug in the role of a peacekeeper cum law enforcer in a week? Sure.

"Whether the reasons are genuine for voluntarily closing, or as you sceptically imply to try to reduce a lengthier forced closure, I don't know, but what would you have suggested the owner do more responsibly?"

Please read my above sentence again, including the end question.

Too many judge, jury, and executioner types on here seem to have all the answers before the facts.....

Unfortunately Walking street is notorious for foreign beatings and not only in the bars and discos, there are groups of Thais up and down the street that have a cache of various hidden weapons at the ready to bring out and set upon anyone they deem that needs a beating, I have witnessed this in person several times, some of the weapons are stashed inside the bars also and staff members will join the beating of a falang in the street which can be as many as 15-20 on to one.

The place is a cess pit of over pricing and rip offs not to mention that the seaward side of the street encroaches on public land were it should in fact be a beach and was some years back, further down past the pier you have an area that should have been developed as a public park but instead you have an oil stained stinking boatyard full of tractors trailers and parked up dirty speedboats, it is an absolute disgrace

....."Re-train staff" The staff wasn't the problem, it was the two security guards. Fire the guards and hire some from a reputable Security Company. Hiring guards off the street is not a wise choice. " Use Night sticks", not sky hooks for protection.

I must visit a different Walking Street to you! You make it sound like Beruit or the worst of the Costa del Sol!

i would suggest you review the definition of "staff".

Maybe he can bring Patrick Swayze back to the life and have him train the security staff. I don't think showing their current staff the movie would be a good thing though.......

I wonder if the victim had done anything to merit the assault? Perhaps self defense? We will never know.

Having lived in Pattaya full time for over a decade, my feeling is that most Thai men in Pattaya can't stand us and their temper is already at a boiling point. When it erupts, watch out.

You don't have to watch for Thai men if they are alone, unless there are others nearby, which unfortunately, there usually are.

A face saving preemptive move to avoid a major shut down. Re-train

staff ??? cheesy.gifcheesy.gif How about a ten minute meeting where the

bouncers are informed the next farang they assault outside the will

be headed to prison......

Sounds to me the bar has volunteered to close instead of receiving as 30 day closure order.

PATTAYA: -- In the early hours of Monday a 55 year old Polish man was injured during an altercation with two Security Guards at a Walking Street Go-Go Bar which is now facing the possibility of receiving a temporary closure order of at-least 30 days.

Pretty simple way to handle these situations there is a BIG Police desk at the bottom of Walking Street with a whole bunch of tourist police a simple call on the radio or phone and they will be there is a few minutes

Let the cops deal with idiots thats what they are there for.

That's business...........................wink.png

Still, whether he is trying to get out of an enforced closure, the owners appear to be showing some responsibility. Common sense actually.

You mean he has not fired the guys who did this??? If not permanent boycott of club is in order.

I'm guessing you've never been there and have no intention of going, along with myself and at least 98% of the regulars on this forum - I'd say a 'permanent boycott' was in effect long before this incident. I have nothing against the owner or the staff, but blitzfix's firsthand account of what happened is the complete opposite of the media's portrayal of the victim as a hapless tourist who was set upon by 3 Thais.

For those who continue to bang on about the need for more Tourist Police to take care of unruly patrons, have you had a good look at many of the TP volunteers ? These guys aren't cage fighters and even if they were, they pack up early and go home well before most of the serious altercations take place. I was in WS at 1am this morning and there was no sign of the TP - quiet night and they probably had something better to do at home.

[soundcloud][/soundcloud]I remember reading an account of this situation on this forum yesterday by a member who was present at the time. He said the man was extremly drunk, rude, aggresive and bothering the serving staff and was asked to leave then was escorted outside of the bar. He then tried to re-enter and was stopped by security and then accosted the security guards. I do not recommend the use of weapons or such but from the members description the guard did not use a hook but used one of those collaspsible batons you can buy at almost any stall on Beach Rd. I think the owner is doing much more than neccesary to make amends to a drunken fool that should have been escorted out by the police and thrown in the drunk tank. Apparently one of the serving girls also had gone to the police to request assistance (ha-ha) if that could have been expected. Now my rant is over but why should the owner have to suffer for a drunk, aggressive foriegner. As usual every post here has been hang the owner but yesterdays post makes more sense to me and I am not a tee-totaler and have been coming here for many years and have never had a problem
