Rock me burger also has a parking problem but it's always full. it's more than parking. classic is a one trick pony and rock me while still focusing on burgers as does classic. Rock has an abundance of sides whereas classic only offers fries. the other day a friend ordered fried chicken and it was perfect. but getting back to classics breakfast menu who has ever eaten breakfast there and was it any good?

A friend of mine who doesn't like beef ordered the breakfast instead of the burger the other day. It was ok, but nothing that any of us would be coming back for.

I'd agree that there are places with more tasty burgers, but to me, one of the nicest things about Classic burger is that it is

has a nice and mild taste. It's a burger one can eat often without getting bored, and the vegetables added on it are nice and fresh. Skip the sauce/mayo and fries, and you have what is a decent meal, healthwise too.

Other things I like about it:

a) Very consistent in taste and presentation. Almost like one of the burger chains, but still has an obvious home-made feel about it.

B) Staff is nice and friendly.

c) The buns are one of the best I've had anywhere. Perhaps the best.

d) Fries are great too. So great that even though I normally don't eat fries, even when free, I sometimes order them.

e) The pickle is great, and I normally don't like pickles.

In short, I'm a fan. Only thing I don't like much that it takes them too long to make the burger. I'd expect to wait around that long at a fine dining restaurant, but don't understand why it takes them so long here.

if something is consistent in taste and presentation that's not saying much. it could be consistently mediocre. and it's certainly can't be considered an accolade. comparing it to burger chains also doesn't want to make me run back either. I'm happy that you like the fries even though you don't like fries and that you like the pickles even though you normally don't like pickles.
To be fair. Consistency isn't very usual in restaurants here.

Is that a kinda sorta plug for Loco Elvis from Dukes?

And almost admitting that Duke's burgers aren't as good as the opposition..whistling.gif

Read it again. He says that Loco Elvis is "not the best burger".....meaning, his own restaurant has the best burger.

All I said is that Loco Elvis is better than Rock Me Burger. I didn't say anything about The Duke's, that Loco Elvis was the best burger, it isn't, nor was I plugging them. Merely an educated observation.

The Duke's uses imported Australian and American beef in it's burgers. Makes fresh buns daily. Makes it's own bread and butter pickles and sauces. And recently we've found Wisconsin cheddar. Burgers are a simple food. That's why there are so many new "the best" places. It's all about the ingredients.

As said: it's good, and that is consistent. A burger bar having good burgers, and being consistent about it, can certainly be considered an accolade.

There were no comparing with burger chains, except that the classic burger is consistent in taste and presentation, like the big burger chains. And again, that's consistently good.

Every now and then the burger and pizza crew on ThaiVisa picks up on a mediocre but unoffensive burger or pizza joint and praises the hell out of it. Most are of them are out of business a year later.

Don't worry Dave, a year ago the big buzz on ThaiVisa was Success Pizza.

thank you for the explanation however your post seems questionable. a friend of yours who doesn't like beef wanders into a shop called classic burgers. you who normally don't eat nor like french fries even for free order a burger that comes with french fries. then you devour the pickle even though you don't eat nor like pickles. then you wait an unreasonable amount of time to actually receive the meal and you consider yourself a fan

If you find my post questionable, I can of course elaborate a little.

My friend knew I liked this burger place and as it was near where we were at the moment, I suggested she join me and order the breakfast set for herself, while I would order my usual burger. The breakfast set is based on pork sausages and fried egg, possibly some bacon too, if I recall correctly. Oh, and the set also included a glass of what tasted like fresh orange juice, so I ordered a glass for me too after having a taste from my friends glass. Prior to that I had not ordered orange juice there, assuming it would just be the usual canned variety I usually have in my own refrigerator.

I find fries to be a waste of calories, full of low quality and unhealthy frying oil, laden with fat and not very well tasting either. So I usually don't eat them, even when they are provided for free as part of the set ordered. The fries at Classic Burger are an exception however. While I don't have any reason to think the oil they fry them in is any more healthy than other places use, the fries are very well done in my opinion. So even though I do not usually order fries, not even at Classic Burger, it is the one place where I will eat them if they come as part of a set. E.g., my friend's breakfast set.

I don't like the pickles one usually finds in burgers either. Usually canned, mass produced, and, in my opinion, not good tasting at all. The one large pickle they serve with the burger at Classic Burger is however, again, an exception. It tastes nice and very different from the pickles one get at other places and I'm guessing they make that too themselves.

So I'm a fan of this place. I wish they'd find a way to reduce the time it takes them to make the burger, which in my opinion is unreasonably long for a place that specialises in burgers, but unless I'm in a hurry, still I prefer to wait the extra time at Classic Burger. I'd agree with others who say the beef is a bit dry, but I like my meat lean, so it's ok for me.

Again, as said: it's a burger one can eat often without getting bored. During some weeks I've eaten at the Classic Burger 3-4 times, which is pushing it a bit for me, but still, I did not get too bored with it.

A tastier burger is the Aussie Boys burger. It is flavourful with a strong, rather than mild taste. It tastes nice and the meat is quite a bit fatter and juicer than the lean meat used at Classic Burger, with a bun that is unfortunately much too sweet and drags the overeal quality of the burger down. I'm a fan of that place too, but if I were to eat there more than once a week, I'd very quickly get bored of it. When food has a strong taste, even if the food tastes good, it is unfortunately also easy to become bored of it.

Classic Burger makes a nice and simple burger using decent (meat) to very good (bun, fries, pickles) ingredients and preparation, without anything fancy added to it. So if I want a big chunk of protein without too much else, it's easy to eat the classic burger often without getting bored.

J.<deleted>.Christ "AWK" you mention being "bored" 5 times in your post, burger boredom is a big issue in your world? You eat 4-5 burgers a week just at Classic burger? I hope you eat a different burger on off days to avoid getting bored. I am surprised nobody is doing a BBQed burger over charcoal, I would not be bored by that.

clearly other people do not get bored with classic burgers but they do it by not going there. I rode by at 12:15 this afternoon and there wasn't one person eating there. I will not get bored by eating sea urchin tonight. there is a sea urchin cart on the super highway. not the tastiest and not the best I I don't really like sea urchins but what the heck I won't be bored

Most farangs move here because of the quality of the burgers.

That would be good stuff....When I grill them I wood/wet smoke them also....Problem is nobody else in our home eats beef and it's too much trouble to go through for just myself......So when that hankering comes about threads like this are handy.....

Only problem is - everyone's got a beef - about everybody else's "beef" ......

Probably should have made a poll.....

Sorry if this has already been mentioned buts its past midnight and I cannot be bothered to read all the previous threads.

came acrosss Classic Burger the other night, Soi 9 Moonmuang just before Riders Corner. Though the burger was pretty ok but found the fries

amazing, they actually tasted like potato rather than just some crispy thing. Prices are stupidly cheap and I wonder how long they can keep that up.

Also noticed they have a proper flame grill not a hot plate like most other places

not stupidly cheap at all. food here should not cost the same as it does in the states, costs are lower.

that's one of the reasons i rarely eat western here and wont pay six bucks for a burger. if classic comes near the 180-200 baht range like other burger places they just lost a repeat customer.

fyi - not as good as nations, just reminds me of it (which is pretty good for a burger joint)

Good beef is imported this subject to import tax

That's why burgers/steak no cheap in Thailand

What a classic thread!!. Keep it going guys as you are cheering up my dull existence here (at least till I get back to LOS). And best of all I'm now aware of a condition called 'burger boredom'. But when I get back to CM I'm off on a burger study tour to discover for myself what all the fuss is about. Thanks for the entertainment.

Well, I believe that this has run it's course. The contributors have been many from AWK who eats at classic not because the burgers are tasty nor because he likes the fries but as an escape from boredom to Dukes who put the final nail in Classic's coffin. <deleted>

I apologize for the nail. Both the chips at Rock Me and the fries at Classic were delicious and tasty. If I had a Rock Me Or a Classic burger in front of me I would choose the Rock Me. If I had a Aussie Boys, Fat Elvis, Rock Me or Classic burger I would choose the Aussie Boys. They have a flavorful spread that compliments the meat on their burger. Hopefully this is nice enough. Again I apologize.

I also meant Fat Elvis not Loco Elvis in a previous post. I'm confused with all the Elvi.

sigh--you said what everybody thinks. That was your only crime. I rode by classic at 5:45 pm yesterday and there only one couple in the place. On the way home I rode by again at 8:10pm and it was empty. The only thing that mr. Awk said that made any sense was "we don't get bored with all of the controversy surrounding classic" I wish them luck but with the constant barrage of descriptions such as "dry, mild, not as tasty as other places and add to that it takes sooo long to prepare I'm afraid that they are doomed.

Actually, not everybody thinks that. The reason I first visited Classic Burgers was after reading the favourable comments about it here. So I'm afraid you're wrong on that one.

Also I never said "we don't get bored with all of the controversy surrounding classic", so you got that one wrong wrong too. I hope you are also wrong about them being doomed, but time will tell. As the saying goes, even a blind chicken finds corn sometimes, so you may get that one right.
