Read this story in a book about the US "migra" on the Mexican border.

It was "non-fiction" so it might be true. I hope it is.

The mayor of a small Mexican town near the US border crossed the border on

a regular basis , normally on official business. US customs hassled him EVERY time.

Thorough search of him plus the vehicle and a sniffer dog given run of his car.

One day he was in his office when his police chief came in with a small problem.

An American had been involved in a minor traffic accident but , rather than hanging

around to sort it out , he had fled in his car trying to skip across the border.

Now , in custody , he was yelling at the Mexican cops (AMERICAN yadyeya WANNA

TALK TO MY AMBASSADOR yadeya)

The mayor asked his police chief to go out , with his men , and find him the most

disgusting stray dog in town.

Next scene : The mayor , the American , the police and a very mangy skinny dog

with open sores all over his body. And the American's car.

"This is our sniffer dog" the mayor beamed "he checks for drugs"

At his nod a policeman bundled the dog into the car and closed the door.

The dog was terrified , scrambled all over the seats trying to get out and pissed everywhere.

The American was past ballistic. "THAT'S NOT A SNIFFER DOG AND HE'S PISSED

ALL OVER MY CAR !!!!!!!"

"Oh si , si Senor" beamed the mayor "He is a sniffer dog. If he find any drugs he shit !"
