papa al
Okay, papa going ceeber to KhoChang. Been there before in a car. I want to drive all around the perimeter, but it looks like there is a blank area in the south proscribing this. I guess I’ll go as far as possible in anti-clockwise direction, then reverse and go all the way clockwise. That way I’ll experience all the perimeter road, from both directions. Catch-as-can for lodgings. Suggestions for island attractions are welcome.

Dutchbike
Koh Chang is nice papa, been there twice, true ( as far as I now) you can't make a full loop around the island, but plenty of nice views down the road. Plenty of touristic things to do ( if you into that) elephants, waterfalls that sort of things. Plenty of good (sea) food and places to enjoy a cool drink in the evening ( with or without company) All the way down south were the roads stops there is a interesting landmark with a great view.A old riverboat " parked" into a resort.

guzzi850m2
Yes very nice island indeed, but I never saw the river boat, maybe next time. The roads have really extreme brends/coners, one of the reasons big busses/lorries can't go there which is nice. I heard the island are getting a lot of rain during rainy season? Would love to have a little modest property as a getaway from Pattaya but the land titles are mostly dogy so not an option right now.
Shurup
Get some good off-road tires, you'll need them when going clockwise, after the pavement ends.
funlovinkid
I just came from there, about a week ago, and I drove the entire perimeter in my car. I thought there were two interesting areas: - in the southwest, the area called Lonely Beach seemed to have a pretty thriving area a few blocks long on both sides of the road: restaurants, bars, etc. Maybe it used to be "lonely", but I would guess not now! Although it IS low season, so maybe not that many people at the moment. - in the extreme southwest, near where the road ends as you're going counter-clockwise, is a pier which has loads of shops as you walk along. Some very cool coffee shops, restaurants, scuba shops, knick-knack shops, seafood places - many with nice seaviews. And this is what you encounter before you actually start walking on the pier itself, where boats can tie up. For the most part, it's the western side of the island which I thought was worth visiting. The eastern side is almost entirely devoid of development. But if it's a fun ride you're interested in, I guess it wouldn't matter. Especially on the western side, the road is extremely curvy and hilly, which wasn't that much fun in a car, but I imagine it would be great on a bike. Enjoy, comrade! papa al
papa left Patts aboot noon-thirty yesterday. Traffic mostly okay on double carriageways 7, 36, 3. Cruising 120 felt fine. Stopped a few times and took the 5PM ferry to KohChang. Fair hazy weather perfect for riding. Everything is in plastics bags, so a few bowls of water ...cool. Staying at a Lonely Beach fan bungalow. There are tourons around but not too much. Imona take a walk around. I hope to go for a night ride all the way (90%) around the Koh & back, late tonight.

BSJ
It's been 2 years since I was there and we couldn't find a way down South to take us all the way around. There's a track somewhere but when we asked how to get there no-one seemed to know....or didn't want to tell!
papa al
Yes, when trying counter-clockwise, I came to a a sign "End of the Road," but who knows. Enjoyed 3 nites @ KC. Yesterday rode north to Korat and took the sleeper train to Ubon. Pakse now to check out southern Laos.
