Decided to come out of hiding to visit the Sticky waterfalls today (aka Bua Tong Waterfall),

About 1,000 Thais had the same idea along with half a dozen foreigners.

No entrance fee, today no restriction on taking food and drink in.

I've lived here years and never heard about it before.

Allegedly only one of two in the world.

50Km North of ChiangMai up the 1001, way past MaeJo.

Very easy to find and well signposted.

Absolutely amazing being able to walk up a flowing waterfall (or in my case crawling up due to fear).

Was passed many times by 5 year old's running up and down, despite 100's using the waterfall, I didn't see one person slip and fall.

It's limestone and when you walk over it the water gets pressed into the rock, so you don't slip.

Well worth a visit if you are in Chiang Mai.

    One other side note... On the road there near the entrance to the waterfall is a small wat on the right that has a great naga and stair steps up to a cave... Great side trip for the kids!

    It is just a small turnoff on a dirt road but is not more than a couple hundred meters in...

    You might be lucky and see the forest monks that live there too!

    It's on Highway 1001, between kilometer markers 48 and 49.

    I am going to check with a tour center and see if they have it as an attraction.

    Would I just refer to it as sticky falls?
