From U.S.A. over 50, living up country.

(This must be covered somewhere...)

I have a one year extension of stay ("old person") that will be up for renewal on 26 May.

My next scheduled date for notification of staying...for 90 days is 10 May.

Will I be stamped in for the full 90 days––and thus have some wiggle room in terms of renewing the extension––or just until the 25th?

The relevance of the question is that my passport will expire mid-November, and if the permission to stay will be only until the expiration of the extension of stay (i.e. 26 May) rather than the full 90 days, then I need to hustle down to the U.S. embassy for the renewal and income affidavit. But if I'm given the full 90 days, well, yea!

Thanks.

Notification of address every 90 days and extension of stay is separate processes.

You need to do your notification 15 days up to seven days after the May 10th. next notification will be 90 days after that.

Your next extension is due 26 May you will not get a full year, only until your passport expires mid-November.

Suggest you get a new passport before renewal.

A report of staying longer than 90 days does not give you any additional time in the country. It is not an extension.

You need to get to the embassy and apply for a new passport before you apply for your extension. If not your extension would be valid to November when you passport expires and you would have have to apply for a new one then.

Thank you, ubonjoe, for the clarification that reporting 90 days is not the equivalent of an extension.

To the embassy then.

Make sure you have an appointment before you go.
