I notice some topics get closed because they are considered to be troll posts and expect to get a reaction.

Has anyone ever started a thread with the intention of not getting a reaction ?

I'm a sucker OP, I'll bite on your barbed hook.sad.png

I start every thread with the intention of not getting a negative reaction from the TV BIB

TV Old Boys Club. If you had been warned suspended as often as I have, you would understand that discretion bluster is the better part of valor TV purgatory, or something like that..wai2.gif

I wonder where the expression came from,i have a theory that it comes from fishing, rather than the mythical troll creature,ie; when you troll a line from a moving boat[so you let the baited hook move through the water at the same speed as the boat],hoping to get a bite

As per forum rules, which you should be aware of, and are easily accessible. A troll post is:

9) You will not post inflammatory messages on the forum, or attempt to disrupt discussions to upset its participants, or trolling.

Trolling can be defined as the act of purposefully antagonizing other people on the internet by posting controversial, inflammatory, irrelevant or off-topic messages with the primary intent of provoking other users into an emotional response or to generally disrupt normal on-topic discussion.

Hope that clarifies the position and answers your question berybert.
