how241
Pretty pathetic complain IMO Shitting in the sink and pissing in a moat I can understand the cmplaints but passing time waiting for a flight with a deck of cards Seems to me this person has little or no life and is looking to stir the pot for no reason +1...Nothing wrong with passing time playing cards.
mikemac
This comes from your self appointed PM who has everyone looking down someone elses back. Now these idiots are just looking for anyone who is doing anything out of the Thai way and want to report it to the authorities. Read 1984. "This comes from your self appointed PM......" What is this? I fail to see how the government is involved in a story about a disgruntled Thai posting a complaint, about 4 Chinese tourists playing cards at the airport, on social network. The AOT had to say something in response and did. Eric Blair's book doesn't cover everything mate. I think MB has read too many books like 1984. And he may be looking down someone elses back, but I'm not. Paranoiac propaganda gone wild.

I understand the point, though. A few days ago, it was reported: "Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-ocha has called on all Thais to help make their country worth knowing and visiting, during his announcement of the government’s performance over the past six months. PM Prayut has asked all sectors, including the general public to do their best to strengthen society while the government strives to reform the country and solve deep-rooted problems. To build a peaceful society, Gen. Prayut stressed that it was important that all citizens were aware of their role and mobilized their efforts to do their duty to the best of their ability." These calls to the "general public" and "all citizens" seem harmless enough, but when the PM with supreme authority does so, everyone is free to interpret what he means, and overzealous morons will certainly make wrong interpretations. We're not that far in Thailand from a "Cult of Personality" surrounding the PM. Certainly, the PM feels compelled to get in the news just about every day. We will know we have arrived when giant posters start appearing. Congrats ! You have somehow managed to turn a stupid story about "someone" called Sulapon Yok Klnchamchoy (complaining about card playing in the airport), who is "perhaps" either a narrow minded moron or a troll, into a junta bashing topic. You are sad and desperate ! Try to stay on topic. Edited April 21, 2015 by mikemac
Popular Post monkeycountry
Thais are addicted to gambling, but since they never take any blame themselves, Thai logic dictates it must be the fault of the cards. Hence cards are bad and should be illegal. It probably surprises many Thais that most people in the world can actually play a game for fun, without money being involved.

richard_smith237
The astonishing thing here is the lack of intelligent balance - someone trying so hard to jump on the anti-chinese bandwagon that they've forgotten common sense. The Thai person who initially posted these comments lacks a fundamental base in critical intelligent thinking...

"This is an airport. You play cards in the middle of an airport? Have some respect. Don't think you can just do anything! #PleaseShare." Dear Sulapon, mind your own business and get a life you sad sack. What is disrespectful about playing cards? #Please stop sharing your ignorance and stupidity. There is not much difference to playing cards than reading a book or playing a game on a smart phone or even sending a text of derogatory remarks about the Junta or your disappointing trip to Thailand, all you are doing is killing time at an airport , anyway they might have been playing snap. It's pretty easy to play snap in Thailand. Just look around you.

Fullstop
Nong Khai Border. Outside the 7/11. Most mornings around 5.30 a.m. Group of Thais sitting in the dusty street playing cards for money. Sometimes there's even a cop playing. Disrespectful or OK Khun Sulapon?
zydeco
It appears that the peasants are none too pleased with their lords and ladies selling out their country to China. And it's just this sort of situation and circumstance where they make their displeasure known. While purely anecdotal, I have yet to hear any of my Thai acquaintances say anything good about the Chinese. In fact, all of them seem to despise them. Of course, maybe many of the same people despise me behind my back, too. But they certainly don't like China or the Chinese.

However, he agreed it is a completely inappropriate activity for such a venue, and if airport authorities see such questionable acts in the future, they will warn the tourists, Daily News reported. From now one only stair at your phone and don't interact or socialize with anyone please.

Chicog
Did no one tell Sulapon about the kiddie porn that was being openly sold in the market stalls under the watch of Lumphini police station? Or being sold publicly on Pattaya Beach road at the same time, which some Thai-loving expat strenuously denied until I told him to go and see for himself. Don't think you can just do anything! #PleaseShare." Completely blind racist moron! He passed the Thainess test with flying colours. Prime example of a xenophobic educational system. It seems Thainess encompasses any Thai saying whatever they like about what they consider inappropriate behavior of any non Thai anytime. They can even completely reverse the statement whenever it suits, without the risk of being challenged or considered wrong. Thainess - no Thai is ever wrong; non Thais are never really right, but sometimes it's not pointed out, depending what mood the Thai is in. Arguing with a Thai is simply not allowed, as they're always right, it's just non Thais can't grasp this.

johncat1
In the UK even children play cards to pass the time BUT unlike Thais and Chinese these are not gambling games But harmless games of " Snap " or " Rummy " or even " Solitaire " where no money or gambling is involved. Not everyone can afford an ipad to play games on.

Card
They can always come to our place to play cards. The girls often play here. The only stipulation is that the house gets a 35% turnover 'fee'. This covers beverages and food. You would be eaten out of house and home - they would bring plastic doggy bags to feed their elderly parents. emilymat
In a country where the government are actively encouraging people to inform on each other, I'm not surprised such an incident appears to antagonise the Thai's who posted it. Daft as it sounds, this is the thin edge of the wedge. Not long before we have farangs being photographed eating a sandwich whilst walking etc. etc. You only have to study history to see how things can pan out when you actively encourage people to shop each other. Also, I seemed to remember last week TAT were asking people to get to the airport three hours before their flight. OK, so if you do how do you fill the time. Clearly, you should be browsing around the pricey boutiques instead of indulging in a squalid pastime like playing cards. .....and one for his nob! (The cribbage poster earlier in this thread will understand that).

ozyjon
I support Mr Sulapon, have any of you ever been to China traveled through various airports, i have and i've seen the Chinese play cards on the floor, various groups actually, but as soon as a policeman appears everyone scrambles and the cards disappear,,, ALSO, To my surprise, in the Thai village, i went to stay with my Kiwi friend married to a Thai lady, i asked if they had a deck of cards for us to pass the time playing, the reply from the Thai wife was "What you want us go to jail'' Nothing was ever mentioned of this again. Don't look at things through western tunnel vision.
