I've seen a couple of threads about this in the past but cannot seem to find them

Had to renew my passport , run-out of pages basically

When I get my new passport do I have to get a replacement Non O put in it ?

I was told that you can carry both passports as the visa has not expired

Whats the actual procedure ?

Cheers

A valid visa in a cancelled passport remains valid for use in conjunction with the new passport.

Answer ..........................use both passports !

No form is requested to fill? Another question is that if i go abroad which passport no should i fill?

The info in this topic only applies to those that have a multiple entry non immigrant visa or tourist visa with remaining entries. Those on extensions of stay have to get their stamps transferred at their local immigration office.

If on a visa there is no form to fill out.

When entering the country you put your new passport number on the arrival card.

Do you have to get your current entry stamped transferred? Or can you just leave with the old and new passport together, but does immigration place the exit stamp in your old or new passport in that case?

You have the Departure card , so I'd say they take that out of the old and stamp the new. I believe your old passport is cancelled as soon as you apply for a new one. As mentioned Non Im O is still valid so can be used from the old passport

The first time you leave the country with a new passport you show both passports. They will transfer your entry stamp from your old passport to the new one and stamp you out of the country in it.

I would add that this would not apply if your old passport was within 6 months of its expiry date.

In that case you would have to transfer to a new passport at immigration with form "Transfer Stamp To New Passport Form" there is no number on the form I have been given to fill in.

I have to renew my passport soon and was given the form at my last 90 day report.

Valid visas are never transferred and are used as described in previous posts.

If you're doing 90 day reports you're here on an extension of stay not a visa unless it's a non-Imm O-A.

They don't transfer visas. New entry and permission stamps would go in the new passport, but you would still present the valid visa in the old passport until it's expired.

If you're here on an extension of stay, you need to have that stamp transferred to your new passport, along with annotations of info from the visa you used for your last visa entry and your re-entry permit, but the actual visa is never transferred.

Your new passport would have more than six month validity and the old passport's expiry date is irrelevant since it's been cancelled.

Thanks Rob, Ive actually got 5 years left on the old one its got 2 clean pages left. Its filled up with Malaysian work permits and in-outs to Thailand every 4 or 5 weeks. Once I'm back to work they stick a WP in it and I'll be down to one page and not a lot of time to replace it , they do online replacement in Malaysia , no office at all. So I got it done now while I have the time

Just done it earlier this morning in Suvanaburni Airport. I have a non o 1 year multi entries and 1 year business multi entries for Myanmar. I got new passport last week in Thailand as the previous one is full (but still valid till 2021). The immigration in airport just transfered the last entry stamp to the new passport and stamped the exit on the new passport. Took few minutes. As i am in and out every week, the officer told me to just show both passports when back as the visa o is on the old passport. No problem at all

OK, so no visit to immigration required then.

That means because I'm in a similar situation (valid non b 1 year multi entries in existing passport) but down to about 4-5 blank pages and a couple of more partial pages for stamps and after my next trip to Myanmar and a couple of more visa exempt trips to Laos I'll be ready to apply for a new passport. That means I can just get my new passport in Bangkok and then leave the country with both passports, explaining that I have a new one now and the officer will place an entry stamp in my new passport with the date I originally entered and a 90-day stay from that date (let's say it was 2 months ago) and then immediately afterwards an exit stamp? Presumably to save time, he'll also write the enter until date in pen rather than find the date on his stamp and stamp it onto my passport.

Yes, at least for me that's how it worked. I inquired both immigration officers (Thailand and Myanmar) when I passed immigration few months ago. They both confirmed no need to visit to immigration office, just present both passports at the immigration and that's it. After passing immigration in Bangkok airport yesterday morning, I passed the immigration in Yangon showing also both passports (in regards to my 1 year multi Myanmar) and they just stamped the new entry in the new passport). It seems to be common procedure for them. I will fly back to Thailand end of this week again
