old Thai Mad Magazine

Featured Replies

Is there a comic or magazine collecting scene in Bangkok? I've seen photos of some old Mad Magazine in Thai, would be interesting to acquire. Seems like they're from 20-30 years ago, maybe around 4 editions, possibly some kind of bootleg, but definitely in Thai.

How to tap into that scene in Bangkok?

I have seen Thai fun comics with cartoons (like ขายหัวเราะ) where the humour is similar to Mad magazine from the US. Perhaps less political though.

Their is actually a torrent running at present containing 500 editions of Mad magazine (US version). You'll need software to view it eg ComicRack.

Just tried a Google search for แม็ด which seems to be how they spell it in Thai, but didn't turn up much.

There's a video here of a Thai edition of Mad with a Star Wars story, which seems to be just a translation of the US edition of Mad. Would be interesting to take a closer look at it.

if you ever locate anything - here's a good place to upload it, so we can all see w00t.gif

this site can be a goldmine, and enabled me to catch up on most of the earlier Asterix comix as well for example

I used to read Mad when I was a kid in the seventies/eighties, also had a huge collection of National Lampoon. Unfortunately I got ripped off in college once and lost a bunch of cool stuff.
