I prefer using 'Whatsup' application on my phone instead of LINE

Featured Replies

I downloaded 'Whatsup' app (which is owned by Facebook) and find it better to use than LINE on my phone. . Its really good for messaging your friends etc. I like the broadcast message feature where I can send the same message to 30 of my students.

Here are some features.....

happy hunting

cheers

Moved to correct forum.

and I do NOT use it anymore because

  • it belongs to facebook and will soon be fully integrated
  • it gives my whatsapp to everybody who knows my phone number
  • it violates data protection law when ever it can (like recent recording of phone calls)

LINE is my choice

everyone i know uses line ,no one bothers with whatsup

LINE is for the girls.

WhatsApp is for the boys.

WeChat is for everyone.

everyone i know uses line ,no one bothers with whatsup

i use neither. is there something wrong with me? and if yes, can it be cured? huh.png

Calling people on your phone is for grown ups

I completely agree, texting is for people who can't be arsed to have a proper conversation. I have constant communication problems with certain people in the west because they prefer to text and give only cryptic responses to things that need to be discussed,

But of course you can make phone calls on these apps too.

I use WeChat for that.

Not using a $messenger nowadays is for dinosaurs.

I am wondering how to send photos, videos, gps-coordinates, etc. through a phone call...

But what do I know. tongue.png

Nothing wrong with you, just shows that you're an old dinosaur...

Only cure is to get yourself 2-3 young gik, third spring will come back and you'll automatically start to use a messenger in order to coordinate your girls *gg*

Free phone calls. Free video calls. Free messaging. And, yes then use of emoticons (stickers) can add some fun to it (enough people on here use emoticons too).

If I am 5,000 miles away and use free video calls or simply phone calls, why spend money on doing so?

LINE does me well enough.

There are a few businesses here too that use LINE. I can keep in touch about rooms to rent and so many other things.

Texting is also for people who have hearing problem and are unable to hear clearly what is being said on these devices, especially in noisy environments.

I find messages less intrusive than phone call. You never know what the people are doing, they may be with someone or having lunch, driving, sleeping or just not feeling like answering the telephone ...

Personnally I hate that people think my life is so boring that I've nothing to do but answering their phone call. I always liked to live a life of luxury. 25 years ago it was to have a mobile phone. Nowadays it is not to have one. Actually not to answer it ;-)

With a message people can check what you've to tell them at their own convenience.

And if I want to talk I just text "call me".

Yes there are times a message is just the thing. But you get so much more out of an actual conversation. I prefer the efficiency of talking and hearing the response.

And I would hate to think that my life is so tight I can't stop for a minute and receive a call.

Absolutely nobody I know uses WhatsApp anymore.

Whatsapp is mainly an European/Indian/South American thing, but not so many user in SEA.

In my home country Germany, everybody uses WA and almost nobody has even heard about LINE.

LINE2LINE is great for free calls to Germany for example.

Here in SEA I use Line, just because virtually everybody has it.

I find texting very useful

the receiver has a record of the information conveyed, some times accompanied with a picture so that there is no confusion

and there is a record.

I coordinate logistics for a high-rise construction company. In the past we had all short of miscommunication from our verbal conversations, Now when asked for something, I ask for a text, this way when the order goes belly up , They can't pin it on me

Here is your text, here is the list, these are the dimensions, is this you text?

Not only do I have a record of the request, I have a record of the day and time.

once I have my text, I follow it up with a verbal conversation for further clarafication.

Neither did the dinosaurs and they did quite well, at least for a while.

Sorry couldn't resist it.

They did quite well until the text went out

Asteroid coming, Duck!!!

unfortunately they did not have a data planlaugh.png and even if they had a data plan, they had no fingers to reply

Doesn't do Line the same?

I get daily messages from Line " A has added you by phone number" " B is now your friend". Only thing is that in 99% of the case I've no idea who A or B are.
