The FDA does not conduct research. It is a regulating body which reviews the results of research done by others and makes a determination as to whether or not there is sufficient evidence on safetyu and efficacy to approve a drug or an additional indication for an existing drug.

There is, indeed, a clinical trial being conducted on EDTA (detoxamin) in coronary artery disease. It is being conducted by the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute and the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine of the US National Institute of Health. I believe it is still open to registration.
