I'd love to go but Mahidol is quite a long trek out of the city. I wonder if the hall has better acoustics than the room at the Siam Center.

Thanks for the interest! Our Salaya Link Shuttle makes the trip easier. It runs from BTS Bang Wa direct to Prince Mahidol Hall, and then returns after the concert. Acoustically - it is the finest hall in the country - Acoustics by the German Mueller BBM PLC.

Shuttle Information can be found here! Hope to see you there! http://www.music.mahidol.ac.th/salayalink/

This sounds like worthwhile trip from Pattaya. The only wind instruments here seem to gather in Soi 6.

Checked the web site, but couldn't find Christian Hartmann. Will try the call center before leaving. Probably, tickets will be available at the venue, too.

Thanks for posting.

Amazing Thailand, NOW today I hear about this... I would love to go but it's too late to arrange. Lucky people. I suppose I had better see if Thai Philharmonic or Prince Mahidol Hall are on facebook.

Tickets are easily available walk up, or through Thai Ticketmaster. The soloist's name is actually Christoph - the website is here - http://www.thailandphil.com/paganini-oboe/

Does anyone know the approximate travel time from Ratchadamri to Bang Wa by BTS? I'm thinking about leaving at 2:00 and hope to catch the 3:00 or 3:20 bus to Salya. I can't wait to see this concert hall and hear its acoustics.

I liked the concert and was impressed by the hall. The trip took me about an hour each way as I was able to get on the Salaya Shuttle quickly. Thanks for the heads up about this concert. I look forward to attending many concerts at Mahidol in the future. I may also take some graduate music courses there if I am accepted. Going out to Mahidol twice a week wouldn't be bad at all. I commuted longer than an hour each way when I was going to USC and did it for six years. And that was on California freeways!

Nice concert, beautiful hall. Pretty Thai girl clapped a lot and made interesting noises of appraisal. But after the break Christoph Hartmann was sitting next to her. Shit. Otherwise, it was worth the trip from Pattaya. Later, sampled a lot of German brew at the Tawandang. Staying over by the river. (Hic)
