Lifecare Lab (blood test clinic) update

I have used this blood clinic for over 7 years for the majority of my blood tests and for my and my family's annual one (and still 15 tests at B500).

Several local hospitals I know also use this clinic's testing services

Recently there has been justifiable comments by TV members about the overall poor condition of the clinic and toilet.

This morning I collected our annual test results and mentioned to K. Thararin (owner and technician) these comments posted on TV

He was clearly embarrassed, grateful for the feedback, apologised and then said by way of a reason that they were relocating in 2 months to just around the corner so he had done no regular maintenance for some while.

For those interested I will try to provide the new address once I get it.

And 'no' I have no involvement in this clinic other than being a client

just walk in. Opens at 7.00' ish . Results normally by after 3.00pm same day if you go early but he will tell you

No food or drink after midnight of course

Ensure your bladder is not empty upon arrival and have a pee there. He will take blood and blood pressure

You will get a professional results book indicating where High (H) etc

I keep my results on excel so can see the changes over 7 years ( in my case)

I use that place when I'm not getting everything done as a package by a clinic. Nothing wrong with the service or the prices as such.

But I always do my urine sample at home so as to avoid entering the toilet or seeing the towel.

I suppose that they must buy a new towel every time their lease expires and they move to another location.

from Tai and 3rd road walk in the Bali Hai direction. go over traffic lights and about 400m or maybe more look on RIGHT for laundry on a corner (that's the clinic soi) and that is opposite a now recently demolished area which housed a garden centre, stalls etc. Clinic about 50m on the right in that small soi.

NOTE: If you went another 300m you'd either have to turn left into Thappraya or go over the flyover to the Pier area - cannot now turn right there to 2nd road.

I went there once and I found the place dirty, I am sure they do a good job but if you feel more comfortable in a more cleaner relaxed place just take your blood tests at the hospital or one of the clinics.

please ignore the 7 0am opening time, it just doesn't happen

I asked the laundry lady next day if the place was closed but she said no it wasn't he just doesn't turn up till around 8 0am ish because he has to take his child or children to school

In fact he did turn up at 7 40 am without even a good morning or kiss my bum, I had been there from 6 50 am

The place was very dirty.

I say no more!

Just a heads-up, Lifecare has now moved to its new location, more or less directly behind where they were before. It all looks much more spick and span than the old place, but happily the prices seem to have stayed the same. I needed a CBC done and that was still just 200 Baht. So if you knew where they were originally their new shop is in the next soi to the east, i.e. towards the soi 17 traffic lights.

How do you know that hospitals are using them? why would they use a small lab clinic, do hospitals not have their own equipment and labs? And if hositals where using them shouldnt they be more busy and expensive then? They cost little lesser then the average med clinic.

I havnt been to the old place, but the reception looks ok in the new place, the toilett maybe not 100%. But I do not care about that, as long as you can trust the results, that is the most importent, and if hospitals are using them I guess you can, but I find that little bit weird. Which hospital are using them?

some answers to above

  • I also asked the owner and his associate on different occasions
  • because he is a well trained and speedy technician producing quick correct results
  • yes some do often have their own in-house resources
  • hospitals maybe can make more money by outsourcing

Hope it helps

Thanks for the answer.:) Do you do not know the name of the hospital(s) that use them?

I don't know which hospitals use them; but the clinic uses Bangkok Pattaya to perform some of the tests. I have a thyroid function test which requires specialist equipment, and the results come back printed by Bangkok Pattaya, albeit at a much cheaper price than BP would charge if I went there!

New facility is much improved; good service.

I can't envision a hospital with inpatients, outsourcing their lab work. Today's medicine permits lab results within the hour. My last hospital stay I had lab work performed 24/7. My last doctor checkup (BHP), had the blood work results in an hour.

if it's that important can I suggest you go visit and ask the boss himself (as I did) - his English is quite OK

I have been there, but didn't ask then, will do next time.
If they actually are trusted by hospitals then I would say it is safe to assume that you can trust their results, which is not the case with many med clinics that use cheap equipment.

I've had PSAs done there and seem to be accurate. I've confirmed Lifecare's work with another lab just to feel more secure.

Lifecare's prices are very attractive but I too have confirmed their work with another lab - Bangkok Hospital Pattaya in my case - and I don't go to Lifecare any more.

Just saying.

Disclaimer: I'm just an ordinary patient at BHP.

I do not care much about the price, it is free for me at home. The biggest advantage the clinics in thailand have is that they a simple and anonymous, and I gladly pay for that as long as the result are reliable.

Why would it be a bad thing if they work with bangkok hospital pattaya? why do that make you not go there? Do not follow that logic? isnt that good?

Only the basic tests are cheap.

Special tests not on their list can be very expensive in Thailand if you can do them at all.
