Mini house alarms/motion detectors

Featured Replies

After many years living in condos Im now living in a house and even though the village Im in appears to be very safe Im still very paranoid about someone breaking in at night.

Is it possible to get small motion detectors that I can put around the house downstairs that will set off an audio alarm if anyone moves near them or within a certain area? I dont want to get a full alarm system installed and just want something I can put around the house in strategic locations myself.

Thank you

Google search: canary home security system it's an inexpensive, easy set up and usable option.

Looking at your Name, i'm presuming your in Bangkok. If you just want localized 'noise/siren' with no ability to alert you, the easiest and cheapest option would be to buy several of the standalone/self-contained PIR sensors offered at Tesco/Big C/Homepro. If you want something with more flexibility, visit any of the Electronic Malls in Bangkok and you can find a large selection of wireless systems that can be tailored to your needs. Yale also sell a good quality wireless alarm kit which can be added too to suit your needs.

Thats exactly what I have in my house,5 of them ,3 I got from UK,and they are

very good, have had the for 15 years, still OK, the other 2 are made in China

and seem to go through a lot of batteries.well 3/4 months even if they don't go off.

Be prepared for been woken up some night, after a gecko moves over the PIR,

I still go down machete in hand to check though,of cause they also work in the

day time when you go out,so they are better than having nothing at all.

The ones from UK are called ARLEC,the Chinese ones are very cheap, you can

buy those from ...dx.com and Chinese company that ships FOC,they have lots of

other security stuff as well,

OK thanks guys.

The Canary one looks amazing but a bit outside of my budget right now, maybe in the future.

Not allowed pets in the house I rent either :/

What about the "alarms" when you walk into 7-11 ?

it would be interesting to know how long they last as they are on 24 / 7
