Hi

Where would be the best place to get 250,000 baht's worth of sterling please?

Do banks hold much sterling? I know dollars are not a problem.

Thanks

PS I know I can do SWIFT transfers etc, but I need sterling cash before I go.

I would check super rich and compare it to the banks before making the change.

Could you please tell me who and where Super Rich are and do they carry large amounts?

Thanks

Halfway down Loi Kroh are 2-3 money exchange places on both sides of the road; I believe Super Rich is there, on the right as you head towards Night Bazaar but there are two close by worth checking rates. I dont know if they carry such large amounts.

Take care- that's a lot of cash to walk around with !

Thanks very much and for the concern - I won't be alone. wink.png

Never heard of Superrich in Chiang Mai, but I am very sure they have nothing to do with the actual Superrich in Bangkok. typical Thai copycat, me thinks (but pls correct me if I am wrong), even though they use 100% identical rates as Superrich Bangkok HQ, which is most probably the countries' biggest FOREX exchange business. But would be interesting to hear of experiences with that CM company

Actually £5k sterling is a piddling amount. That's holiday spend for only 5 couples for a fortnight isnt it?.

Having said that I wouldnt expect the likes of Super Rich (also on Ratviti opposite the cm saloon) to carry that amount on the premises at any one time.

I would go and take an amount out and then ask them to find the remainder for you the next day,...spread it out; also means less risk for you carrying such a large piddling amount!

Ideally it enables you also to request the amount in £20's or even £50's to take up less space than tenners.

Not questioning if 5k sterling is a piddling amount or not, I just want to know if money changers or banks keep a fair amount of sterling in stock. Thanks for the advice on spreading it out, makes sense.

and look.......................if they are closed you can leave your bags of dosh outside and they will sort it when they open; thats a novel idea.

how times change: photo about 2 yr ago? The wall gone, Viva gone; new tatoo shop on the corner. still as busy now as it was then.

^ Sorry, forgot to transliterate. Thanks. It's on the right, just after the right turn down the narrow soi to the one-way bridge over the river.
