King relieves plight of two sisters doing farming in landlocked farmland

21-5-2558-13-55-28-wpcf_728x408.jpg

BANGKOK: -- The plight of two sisters doing rice farming in landlocked farmland in Phetchaburi province was finally removed after His Majesty the King learned of their hardship and provided them a 150-metre walkway to enable convenient access and transport of farm products out to market.

The story of the two sisters, Ms Banchong Kongmuang and Ms. Boonruen Kerdsap, was exposed after they received a letter from the Office of His Majesty Principal Private Secretary informing them that His Majesty the King has acknowledged their plight and has designated the office to assist them in both the access road to their landlocked farmland, and usucaption complaint.

A 150- metre walkway was then built to a access to their landlocked farmland, enabling them to transport their farm crops to the market conveniently without having pay passing fee to adjacent landlord.

Banchong and Boonruen said they were delighted after their complaint had reached the King and assistance was provided.

They revealed that they have been doing farming in their landlocked farmland for over a decade and have been suffering a lot as they have no access of their own but have to rely on adjacent land for access.

Their farmland was in between the lands of the landlord which they said would charge them 300-500 baht for each passage to transport their harvests out to market, making them in troubles as they are poor.

They said they had spent over a hundred thousand baht to buy eucalyptus wood to make a walkway across the farmland to transport their crops out to market.

They had to carry the heavy wood by themselves to make the walkway.

But they said not long after that the wood was destroyed and they could no longer use it for transport.

Afterwards they had to change to new route for transport which is a 1.5 kilometre longer, thus making their lives even harder.

They later decided to write a petition to the King for help on a road and the landlocked issue.

Their petition was finally acknowledged.

A 150-metre long laterite soil walkway was built to their landlocked farmland and the problem of usucaption was settled.

They said a religious ceremony will be held tomorrow to open the walkway as a merit offering to the King.
