iPad Mail password headscratcher

Featured Replies

Hi i just changed my gmail password for a better.

I have two step verification which sends a code to your mobile phone first time you use any new device....no problem it works well....BUT am a bit mystified.

So I got a new password just now. It works on the browser.

I figured I have to change the password for gmail in my Mail prefs or I won't get any gmail in Mail iOS.

Well unlike my backup email address there is a box for Outgoing Mail Server details but NOT for Incoming.

So where does the password go? Cannot find it.

The strange thing is I since got an email to my gmail from a regular source which arrived in Mail.

So how did Mail access gmail without the new password?

Is there some sort of thing where gmail, knowing I have been properly verified, can automatically fill my details on the iPad?

There is no space in the mail settings for G Mail password.

But when you make a new Google account, then you put the password in and its remembered.

Google = One Google account for everything Google.

I think the OP is asking that if he changes his google pw from 1234 to 4321, how come this is apparently automatically picked up on his Apple device where he previously entered the 1234 pw to link his account.
