andyr45 Posted May 31, 2015 Posted May 31, 2015 I would appreciate knowing whether it is possible to gain access to any of the local university libraries? Is one able to pay to join any of them on a semester or annual basis? If access is available, which one has the widest selection of English books?
bangmai Posted May 31, 2015 Posted May 31, 2015 they've had trouble with visitors at CMU, and they are suppose to report at the gate, but it may only apply to Chinese. I use the bank on campus, and ride the tram no problem, but if I were in a group of 5 or 6, it wouldn't be surprising to get asked about our business. Give some of the other public libraries a shot first.
hml367 Posted May 31, 2015 Posted May 31, 2015 You can try and contact CMU library from this web page http://library.cmu.ac.th/cmul/en Payap University http://lib.payap.ac.th/ I would think other universities also have similar internet access, although they may not be as English language friendly. You could also go to the library and ask. I have found going in person to places WORKS BETTER FOR ME. (my disclaimer)
chingmai331 Posted May 31, 2015 Posted May 31, 2015 I've had no problem walking into the CMU library. Must fill a form and pass thru gate controlled by clerk. I have also obtained a one year CMU library card so can come and go as i please. This costs some money, including a 2000 baht deposit. Lots of english books? Not really. They have a USA section filled with stuff, some old. DVDs too but can't check them out. Other reference and topical books in english scattered amongst the shelves. Have not found the online lib catalog very functional for english users. Need books to read? Some pubs keep a shelf of novels, and many used bookshops in CM. The shops are a bit pricey for me.
