Anyone sold a car and had to pay back the tax rebate?

Featured Replies

We brought a Fiesta under the government scheme just over 2 years ago, we got back the 100,000 baht, now we wish to sell the car as we're relocating and assume we'll have to pay it back as your not supposed

to sell the car for 5 years, anyone done this already??

Thanks

Jimmy

Ive thought about this too. We too have a car from the government scheme and got the rebate. My wife says that if we sell the car within 5 years, when you transfer the name/owner the land transport know that there's a rebate been paid and it'll be flagged saying that the 100,000 needs to be paid before transfer can take place.

Do you have the blue book for your car? Go to a land transport office and ask there.

No we haven't got the blue book as it's still also on HP!!

We're going to try a few 2nd hand car dealers and see what they say, we have a few months yet to play with.

Yes it has to be repaid if you sell the car before 5 years.

That was the condition you accepted when you purchased it under the Government Scheme and received the 100,000 rebate.

I would look into it quickly.. It's a government department you're dealing with ( actually two departments, land transport and finance) so probably won't be quick!

Maybe contact the finance company in the first instance. They probably have experience in this.
