Each entry stamp is counted as 30 days. If you have more than three of the stamps in a 6 month period, you must get a visa at the embassy before arriving. You would have 168 days in that cycle which is not a 6 month period so you would need a visa on your 4th trip from a Embassy/Consulate.

Another cut through the crap question.

Are we all clear now with the difference between "visa on arrival" and the "visa exempt stamp" ?

Then we can get back to productive Q&A's from the pros !

Great job Sunbelt ! :D

I just call the visa exempt stamps... 30 day stamps

The visa on arrival stamps... 15 day stamps. :o

Get three of the stamps in a 6 month cycle and you need a real visa.

Cuts through the crap. :D

Thats intersting, so a visa on arrival only gives 15 days, compared to a 30 day for an exempt stamp ?

Seems a little unfair, do it the right way you get 15, do it the lazy way you get 30 ! :o

Should it be the other way round, and if it was would there be so many problems ?

I suppose thats Thai logic at the end of the day, and we wont go there ! :D

That’s not quite how it works. Depending on your nationality, you qualify for either one or the other stamp. See these links:

15-day stamp (Visa on Arrival)

30-day stamp (Tourist Visa Exemption)

Let's keep these two things apart

a) Passport holders from 40 countries and Hong Kong get a visa-exempted entry and can stay up to 30 days

'b) Passport-holders from another 20 countries can apply for a a visa at arrival (if they did not apply at home) and will get such a visa allowing them to stay for 15 days.

The whole discussions, however, is about the 30-days-stamps, i.e. entry without a visa or visa exempted...

Sunbelt thanks for the informative response. Please read and help.

I have an entry visa dated the

13th of April.

6th of May.

8th of June.

4th of August and next will be the 12th of October.

My flight is already booked and paid for by my employer. What would be the chances of me being re-fused entry to Thailand upon my arrival.?

In future I will be better prepared but at the moment im on the high sea's and caught in a difficult place...!

Posted (edited)

forget that as I have just reread the thread...... which of course brings me more info ....

ask after the 15th and we are all likely to know more!

Thank you.

As of now, no written confirmation on if the clock starts before or after Oct 1st and its different then yesterday news we got.

You should have no problem. The way it stands now...

Oct 1, everyone starts with zero stamps and you'll have a quota of three entry stamps in the next six months.

If something changes, we'll let you know.

I am in the same situation. I think you are OK unless you want to go on holiday outside thailand somewere. I cant see it being enforced for long..

Yes, that word "enforced" again. One thing is having a law, enforcing it is another. In a month from now all this panic will be for nothing !

Get yer flights booked everybody and lets enjoy Thailand.

Mr. pommy bar owner without a visa or work permit, tell your Thai missus your staying and cancel the visa application at the UK embassy !! :D
