I asked on a diff thread about getting two entries THAI tourist visas in Laos Instead of going home all the way to England .... So, know what to do for that

I wish to visit Chiangmai and go from Chiangmai to Vientiane to get the new tourist visa.

I am looking for recommendation of agents that do this, including accommodation as I do not know how long a visa for Thailand takes to be issued from Vientiane ..

I have done Google but not too sure as most are just a general visa run

There are lots of travel agencies all around the old town, any of these will be able to help you out.

There are also a lot of options as to what form or mode of transport you can take. From big buses to the small VIP people mover vans. You could also fly to Vientiane or stay on the Thai side and fly into Nong Khai. Either way you will have to enter Vientiane in order to get your visa.

Be aware that the consulate takes 2 days to process your visa (Thats based on getting a double entry entry visa). So in essence you need to get to the Thai consulate before midday, fill in the paper work, have the photocopy of certain passport pages and a couple of passport photos. I cant remember the cost for the visa as Im now on a retirement visa. But regardless, you do all the paperwork and hand it in (Yes there is a number/queue system). The following day after lunch you return to the consulate and wait to get your visa.

Lots of places to stay in Vientiane with one just across the road from the consulate and slightly to the left. Or you can get a tuk tuk and go into town.

All in all its quite easy.
