Yep this is what is called a "risky app". If you want to find out more about the apps on your device (Android) try downloading CheckMyApps from GooglePlay ... https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.pradeo.checkmyappspersonal&hl=en ... and it will tell you about all the risks associated with your Apps.

This isn't any old app though, is it? This is information going to the police....the Thai police. Do you trust them? Most people don't.

>>Gen Prayut said at present up to 80% calls to Hotline 191 are false calls<<

Seriously??

A clear indicator of the intelligence level here..........................whistling.gif

Or the 80% are ignored and classified as false.

Or the 80% are crimes by people who are not to be touched.

Would it not have been appropriate for the national police chief to introduce this or does the PM have to be involved in managing everything to prove he's in charge and grab anything that looks like favourable publicity ?

I've lost count of the news reports that start with the same words "Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha", can anyone help with a figure ?

Pretty much similar to the previous PM . Except that the current one is really in charge, and the previous one was clearly not.

Trust me you are in charge when you can pick up the phone and the army is at the other end. YL did not have that luxury.

A more appropriate app would be i-Diot.

get with the programme you'll need a "s" at the end of it

Nice idea but when I ran this App through Pradeo's AuditMyApps it came up with a "Privacy" warning ... it sends Latitude, Longditude and Location information to the following ... http://ilerturest.cloudapp.net/v3_shoplomo/chat/sendmessage ... Shoplomo looks like a shopping site so the location information will probably be used to send you adverts of some description which is not really what you want from a "crime fighting" App is it!

Dear potential victim,

we noticed you recently send out a cry for help to the police. Could we possibly interest you in our line of pepper spray products, high quality brass knuckles (spiked and non-spiked) and leather clad billy clubs? Contact us and mention this ad for a discount on our exclusive assortment of quality self defense products.

10 minutes to answer your call, I live mid north how is that possible. Silly me I forgot only Bangkok is Thailand.

Silly you indeed, if you read the OP you'd see that the app is being tested in Bangkok first.

"police will arrive for help within 10 minutes"

Ive got a "join the dots" book ...would that help them??

Just another way for the Govt. to have your phone number on file I imagine, since you have to register first, in case you did not register your phone before the end of March.

Since mobiles are used to activate bombs.

Sherlock...report to headquarters and turn in your magnifying glass immediately.

Did it ever occur to you that Pradeo's AuditMyApps is wrong?

If not, please explain why a Policeman shows up, and not a sweet young thing in a short skirt wanting to help you find soap?

Hold on here for a moment...we may be on to something !!

But do you think they would know what to do with the information if they got it? Last time I was in Pattaya Police station, 18 months ago, they were still writing reports out longhand!

As always the negative comments.

They are going to trial this, maybe it will work and that is positive. It certainly makes sense to me.

As for all the location stuff, every app has this. Plus of course they need to know your location, how else could they find you!
