Weng: Majority of people against outside PM idea, won't support CDC draft

BANGKOK: -- RED-SHIRT leader Weng Tojirakarn Monday predicted the new Constitution might not pass its referendum process, judging from National Statistical Office (NSO) surveys.

"The surveys of NSO showed that a majority of the people opposed the principles of this charter draft, and I believe that people will not support this Constitution drafted by the Constitution Drafting Committee (CDC) president Borwornsak Uwanno," the United Front for Democracy against Dictatorship (UDD) co-leader said.

Weng added the main issues of why people would reject the draft was on the matter of an outsider prime minister, and selected Senators.

In the upcoming September this new Constitution would be put on the table for the National Reform Council (NRC) to vote on whether they approved or disapproved of it. Weng was of the opinion it was still hard to predict the outcome of the votes by reformers.

"There is a hidden motive behind reformers' votes. Now it is still hard to predict, but I think there would be a clearer sign [of how the vote would turn out] by this September. Some NRC members expect to be in the Reform Movement Council once their terms ended after the voting process. They might vote for a pass, but those who disapproved the draft might end their future political careers," the redshirt leader said.

"There is a hidden motive behind reformers' votes. Now it is still hard to predict,"

I can tell you what is not hard to predict.....The red shirt leader Weng.

When ever polls or surveys go against the red shirt ethos they ignore them and stay silent or at the very least denounce them and state a "belief" (like I was on holiday and the hotel room next door was empty ergo tourist numbers have plummeted under the Junta). When any poll or survey supports the red shirt ethos out come Weng or Jatuporn as predictable as night following day to reinforce the results of the survey or poll.

They pick and choose which polls and surveys to believe based on if the agenda is aligned to their belief structure and in this case it is.

Just once I would like Weng to respect the majorities wishes even when that majority does not suit his agenda although I won't hold my breath waiting for it.

"respect the majorities wishes even when that majority does not suit his agenda"

But is it okay for the Royal Thai Military to disrespect the wishes of the Thai majority when it does not suit the military's agenda? It shouldn't be alright but the repeated overthrow of majority-elected governments and constitutions guaranteeing the Thai people's sovereignty says such blatant disregard of the people's wishes is tradition and acceptable to the minority.

Your political positions repeatedly take duplicitious positions that require the acceptance of extra constitutionalities that supercede the sovereignty of the Thai people. There is no respect for the majorities wishes in Thai governance.

Weng knows what the people want. Let me ask you Weng, did the people want your hero's 4am amnesty? No, thought not. Shame you were not so perceptive back then hey mate.

Weng is a former communist (well still communist but not in the forest anymore). Communists always know better what is good for the people......

Certainly more so than the corporations, banksters and industrialists who believe in giving the rich more money to work harder and the poor, less...

Don't tell you you don't believe in the 'trickle down' effect. When Dr. weng was Pheu Thai party list MP his party spent 700 billion Baht on the RPPS to let it trickle down to the poor.

Gun point!! Did anyone die or get hurt?

He took out an incompetent, non-functioning government to stop the bloodshed on the streets, and in doing his duty, Prayuth succeeded in stemming the alarming rise of farmer suicides and brought much needed stability back to a country on the verge of civil war. Without any argument he saved countless lives (mainly anti-government supporters) and stopped the daily violence on the streets in its tracks. The people were elated and just so grateful to have peace and order returned to them over night.

The Pheu Thai party didn't win with a voting majority as you claim BTW ie: 12,211,604 out of 27,537,677 or just over 44% of the people that cast a vote doesn't constitute a majority of the voting public in mine or anyone's book. The majority of voters (56%) wanted an alternative to what they were unfortunately lumbered with - not to mention the fact that they gained power by promising the people unachievable, unaffordable and irresponsible populist policies that nearly brought the country down and on to it's knees.

This feeble excuse of a government lacked credibility let alone legitimacy (which it never ever had) and failed the people spectacularly!! What happened to it was both right and fully deserved.

Thank you Lucky11. Said well enough to make me wish I had said it. BTW it took me several replies to read through to get to where I could find out which red Weng it was. No picture & the Thai names lose me. So, it was the "him" Weng, it seems. Bad pennies both of them when handling billions of OPM (Other Peoples Money) something socialists world-wide are reknowned for.
