Thai birth certificates

Featured Replies

Anyone know the thai gov department that issues a birth certificate and if it has a web site.

I know a certificate can be got in person from the amphur in the province where the person was born,

but we want to try online first, save a trip out into the jungle and try and get a birth certificate online or by post.

There is no online application for a birth certificate, It has to be done in person at an Amphoe.

It does not have to be done where the child was born. But it must be done where the house book that the child will be registered in is for.

The birth certificate must be applied in person, within 15 days of birth and can only be applied for at the amphur of birth. Nowhere else!

After the birth has been registered you get the birth certificate and can register the child in a tabien baan (if the child is a Thai naitonal).

You will need to rpepare the name of the child and the parents in Thai language, as a Thai birth certificate is in Thai language only.

The birth certificate is for an adult.

The one she has was presented to Australian immigration, in Australia, with a citizenship application at an interview.

They knocked it back stating that it was a photocopy and not an original.

The amphur where the person was born is the place to be.

They will not issue an actual birth certificate, but a certified copy that should be enough for your purpose.

The strange thing is that the birth certificate copy she has was used for a resident visa to get into Australia, same Australian immigration dept, but not good enough for citizenship after living in au for 5 years.

Usually the hospital where your child was born will get Thai birth certificate for your child. Why do you have to do it yourself?
