Alcohol-related mental disorders on the rise in Thailand

so is it alcohol contributing to mental illness or mental illness contributing to consuming alcohol? Or is it thai culture contributing to alcohol consumption or thai culture contributing to mental illness which then contributes to alcohol consumption....

The near total absence of mental health facilities here is so sad. Some may go off to talk with monk, which is better than nothing I suppose, but other than that, you're out of luck.

I had Counselling many years ago in the UK - it was very good & helped me alot.

When this came up in a conversation with aThai man last year, he looked at me incredulously, as if I was a nutter.

But then this demonstrates of lack of understanding about MH & related issues, & is not a criticism of Thailand.
