Can we divorce in separate amphurs?

Featured Replies

Does anyone know if this is possible? Or do we need to go together to the same amphur to get a divorce?

Any amphora you want. Just need the two of you, your original KR 3 and ID.

Sorry, maybe I should rephrase my question. We live in different provinces so I am wondering if we can do it without going to the amphur together. Meaning I do it here and he does it in his local amphur. I want to avoid having to see him if possible.

If you registered the marriage in Thailand, you may go to any district office to get an uncontested divorce but you must both go there together.

I believe if you have been separated 3 years you don't have to see him.

You are referring to one of the grounds for contested divorce in court. In this case both parties must still appear in court.

Thanks for your replies. That is what I thought; that we have to go together. I was just hoping that there was a different way around it.
