divorce and property sttlement

Featured Replies

Hi well another victim of thai long con, can anybody advise a good lawyer in chiang mai...I need to sue wife for property cost and divorce,, been advised worst case scenario I get 50 per cent back hope somebody can help me thanks.propertry was acquired during marriage

"i thought a wife of a farang could only own property if the money was hers and not her husbands? http://www.thailandg...ondominium.html"

Ownership doesn't mean anything in a divorce.

Anything acquired in a marriage, assets or debts are split 50/50 under Thai law.

Though you cannot own the land doesn't mean that you are not entitled to 1/2 its value. It will be a legal battle though to force her to sell it.

allansford8..........Good luck in court.

There are many threads on divorce. Everywhere 50% is mentioned.

We all know we can't own land but of course the house is on that damn land.sad.png

I wish we could get a retrospective post. Just once!

It would have significantly more importance than the advice that gets flippantly bandied about.

Sincerely, good luck to all pending divorcees.

What happens if she sells it for peanuts out of spite? Would the OP only be able to get half of that?

Both parties have to agree to sell........I think the worst thing about this kind of situation is the wife cannot or does not want to sell, and has no cash otherwise to pay out.........the 1% edge if you ask me
