How much to retire in Phuket

Featured Replies

Just putting out feelers here as I plan to visit and possibly retire in Phuket and/or Pattaya.

Would like to know if $3000. USD is enough to live a "decent" life there?

I know that's a "loaded" question and there are a lot of variables so here are my circumstances

Single

57 years - fairly healthy

Living standards - mediocre (condo or apartment rental) - nothing fancy in the Phuket town area preferably

No car desired and plan to use local transportation

Moderate drinker and frequenting bars (mostly weekends) and yes I like the ladies and buying a few drinks once in awhile.

Food - eat out mostly at cheap restaurants (nothing fancy)

Hear a lot of different things as far as how much is "Livable" but prefer to hear from those that are there and have similar circumstances as myself.

Thanks in advance for any response.

John
