We are, at the moment, clearing out my 85 year old mothers flat in Scotland.

The amount of stuff that has been put in a cupboard and forgotten about is rather interesting. Old photos and my old dollies are quite unique. "Do you want lala the dolly?" NO.

She is downsizing, and finding it rather stressfull. But it has to be done, and in the long run she shall have a clutter free new home. To start again...

Who needs 30 handbags, 40 wooly hats and scarfs?!! Pots and pans that she recieved as wedding presents 65 years ago?

"Oh, but i might need that" is the echo that goes between three countries..

Chuck it Mama is the responding echo. But don't chuck my Waterford chrystal glasses!!

You may want to endeavor to discover the underlying causes for her hoarding behaviors - that is if she even knows - or is willing to come clean for that matter.

Most neurosis-bases behaviors-syndromes are based on unfulfilled desires, needs or unresolved trauma, imho.

But maybe there is much more to it than what Freud et al espoused to the ignorant masses..my mediocre self included.

She may need her bum spanking whilst being force fed a Brussels sprout sandwich, a practice much lauded in past times in Ancient Greece a bit before Freud though.
