The Decline in AN Site Traffic?
There seemed to be a series of posters who may or may not be on the payroll. I thought you were one of them. Not big deal either way but better if they identified themselves as such. In terms of politics, I do find some of the right wingers being unpleasant to the point of being a turn off, to read those topics. I like feistiness but some of it is downright toxic and nasty to the point of silliness. Left wingers might be a bit whingy but in general they haven't got that closed off extremeness in my opinion. There used to be certain points of community if you will. Owl Sees All's diary of a guy in Issan and parts of the Pub seemed fun and amusing. There's still some of that but there is a half a dozen or so who dominate and often get into fights which can be fun but often can get tedious. Problem can be that after you've seen this site a bit you do see the same types of comments - stories on immigration, crime, corruption, and don't even think about looking at stories on gender or religion or sexuality as the same old same old comes out of the woodwork - all can be a bit of a bore and predictable. Not that I have much new to say. I wonder where certain posters go. One more farang must have had enough. A fair few other big names disappeared. But it's still not a bad site. -

The Decline in AN Site Traffic?
Let's get back on topic. This topic isn't about the site's house trolls and haters, but the decline in overall site traffic. If you want to talk about the trolls and haters then are they the cause of the decline in traffic? Maybe. -

Tourism Pattaya's New Tourist Tide: Indian Visitors Stir Up Debate
@PingRoundTheWorld You are missing the big reason that people are ot coming as much. It has very little to do with what Thailand has to offer, BUT it has a lot to do with the economy in countries. People often lack the funds to take big trips. We hear people talking about how the SS world is not paying enough, and that people have so much debt. Most of us long-time expats live here with restrictions, but we can still live here even with increases. As to Chinese in Pattaya really the only people making money are some hotels and restaurants. Chinese tour groups aren ot funding walking street or Bukhao. I know this may seem like heresy but they need to shut down walking street and revamp it so that it is open for business and having a running business on the street that tourists would be interested in. Starbucks or a large coffee chain having a location on the water in place of one of the bars would be a good thing. -

Report Phuket to Face Sweaty Day: Power and Water Outages Loom
File photo for reference only Phuket is bracing for a challenging Friday as the sun-drenched island prepares for simultaneous power and water outages due to scheduled maintenance. Residents and businesses in Kamala and Cherng Talay have been warned to expect a day without essential utilities. The Provincial Waterworks Authority (PWA) Phuket has announced that water supplies will be halted from 9am to 4.30pm on July 4. This suspension aligns with a planned power outage by the Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA) intended to facilitate crucial grid upgrades. The power cut will plunge homes, hotels, and businesses into darkness along the bustling tourist belt from Thalang to Surin Beach. The upgrade involves installing new high-voltage poles to bolster the ageing infrastructure along Srisoonthorn Road. “We advise residents to store water in advance,” the PWA cautioned, highlighting potential water quality issues once services resume. Affected areas will include Soi Cherngtalay 14, Shanti Villas, and various businesses such as DotBro e-bike Phuket. The PEA Thalang Branch emphasised the necessity of the blackout for safety reasons, as work spans from Thalang Power Station 3 to Laem Singh Viewpoint, affecting major parts of Cherng Talay. Key sites impacted include Soi Bangtao, Aiyaraburi Hotel, Surin Gate, and community hubs like Bang Tao School. Even local favourites like 7-Eleven Bang Tao Soi 11 will not be spared, prompting both residents and tourists to prepare for a hot, dark day. The PEA reassured the public that this short-term discomfort aims to enhance long-term reliability in the region’s power grid. Calls for preparation have been echoed by both the PEA and PWA who urge affected parties to plan accordingly and reach out for updates: PWA Phuket: 076-319173 or 063-4744565 | Call Centre: 1662 PEA Thalang: 076-386882 | Hotline: 1129 | Facebook: PEA Phuket Amidst rising temperatures, some locals have dubbed the situation a “dry and dark disaster.” A Bang Tao resident, taking to social media, described the day humorously as “eco-friendly Phuket, where you can sweat it out without a shower and meditate in candlelight.” As the mercury climbs, Phuket’s community is set to demonstrate resilience, tackling the day with a mix of preparation and good humour — all until power is restored, and the water flows once more.
