A Thai woman who successfully worked Las Vegas several years and landed a rich young banker , returns to her village.

By now the family live in the villages best house.

Have the best car and own large sways of land.

They no longer identify with many of their old friends .

Gone are the judgements cast on this woman .

It took her ten years from the day she left a very poor family to now a wife of a New York high roller.

A pretty woman story for real.

On seeing this its a sure bet even though officially scorned and deemed immoral.

The girls who have some looks will be packed up and sent to the bright lights.

Money transcends all in Thailand as we see when the rich are involved in incidents .

And even as the envelop to the temple is passed by the ex Vegas hooker.

All is forgotten and peace regiens

Just another in a series of morally outraged posts, by people with strange and displaced priorities.

The bottom line here, is that prostitution exists in nearly every country of the world in one form or another. I consider that figure of 2.8 million people to be wildly exaggerated. A good friend of mine, who used to head the largest HIV foundation in Thailand, told me there were about 600-800,000 women in Thailand who earn their livings from sex. She also told me that per capita, the number was far higher in the US. I believe that. But, it is so far underground, that most people are not aware of the enormous size of the industry. Here it is more open and transparent. And why not? What on earth is wrong with allowing women the opportunity? It is their choice.

As long as they are doing it of their own free will, what is the issue here? Why all the moral indignation? How genuine is all of that outrage? Millions are benefitting from it. What happens when it is pushed further underground? You end up with a highly repressed society, like in the US, where one has to pay crazy money for the pleasure of a woman's company, and the fear of arrest and prosecution for paying for sex. And law enforcement is wasting a tremendous amount of time and resources, pursuing a man who is just looking for a little bit of pleasure and TLC. And when he is caught, he is branded a sex offender. For what? Talk about a broken system. And who is pushing the moral agenda? Most likely those broken souls in the US.

I think often this outrage is about false morality, and a desire to put forth a face of righteousness and purity. I just do not trust many of those who do so.

Many of us pay for sex regardless. One way or another. There is something so honest about prostitution. Just tell me up front what it is going to take. In the west, it is often about an undetermined number of dinners, gifts, and prizes, to get to the final outcome.

Can't be bothered to read every post, but hopefully

some thinking person has brought up the fact that

90% of Thai prostitution is for the benefit of Thai men.

The image of a fat farang waddling down the street

with a skinny gogo girl is a common one, but not

really that accurate when it comes down to what is

really happening in Thailand. But it certainly suits the

Thai " leaders" who enjoy the services of underage

girls at their favorite soapy, but try to deflect blame

on those evil farangs......Too funny for words.

I wonder how many people realise it is now 2016, and not 2015 - the date of the initial post. rolleyes.gif

Haha but still timely, and probably will be 50 years from now...

Well Hong Kong was also once a R&R for GIs and look at what that is now. A few tiny places that exist on the tourist grid. That is where it is headed in Bangkok as well. If you can't see that you are blind.

You guys really are blind to the money that real spending tourists being here, hint: hang out at Terminal 21 or one of the dozen other hotel/malls.

These little sois next to huge monstrous sky scrapers and you lads all want to pretend that it all collapses without you.

Food for thought.

The tourists that hang out at 21 and the other temples to consumerism are here today, but when some other country builds bigger and fancier they'll all be off to the next fashionable in place.

Just look what happened in Pattaya when the rouble fell to low levels.

However, the farangs that inhabit Pattaya and Bangla etc will always be there, unless the authorities do a Makati and stuff it up.

Married good old friend inevitably keeps telling me when the discussion comes to Thailand "prostitution is, by far, the cheapest way to get laid. Even here in Europe".

Cynical? maybe, but sounds true.

I have so few friends in the West, who have satisfying sex lives. So few. I can count them on less than one hand. Most complain they barely get any, and most complain that it is poor when they do. Sex is simply not popular anymore, among most American women, over the age of 25.

That is a very pathetic way to live. That is alot to put up with, and a severely diminished quality of life.

The one thing that differentiated Thailand from all the other sex destinations was the GFE. They've lost that, and they'll lose a lot more, like the money these guys bring in when they think they've found their true love. I have no belief in the strength of the Thai economy, it will fall apart when the funny money stops.

I came here for the food.

me, for SCUBA diving...

SCUBA in Thailand, really? Much better in so many places outside of Thailand. Koh Tao is a certification factory but boring diving, maybe the liveaboards.

It's not called a happy ending for nothing.

Yes well no happy ending for the girls though. That is the problem. prostitution is by definition exploitation of women.

Posted

Sorry for the candid question, but "GFE" stands for?

I believe it stands for girl friend experience.

I have no idea what it costs now, but back in the 90s, one could come to LOS and have a week or two or three on a nice beach ( before they were ruined by concrete ) with a willing and pretty lady for the price of a one night stay in a London 5* hotel ( that is of course a generalisation ). So, very much a girl friend experience.

Certainly beats having to go to a pub and buy a load of drinks for a girl in hopes of a one night stand.

Prostitution is a catch all word that means having sex for money, but is meaningless when trying to equate a crack whore in New York having a quickie behind a dumpster with the farang scene in LOS.

If your definition is correct, and I do not believe it is, it would mean that no bar girl in the LOS farang scene is a prostitute ( what about the males working in the barbeers and Gogos or the ladyboys? Do they not count in your definitions? ).

If you continue to believe that a Thai BG is the same as a crack whore in the US, then you obviously have no idea of what goes on in Pattaya or Bangla.

I'm not getting into specifics, but there are plenty of sites on the internet that do.

I don't know the prices now, but from what I hear, it's become unaffordable for all but the rich.

Having one night for x baht is not a GFE, and is no different than hiring an escort back home, wherever that is. It's the holiday with the temporary GF that makes it an "experience".

Well then my previous statement wasn't specific enough, was it?

Koh Tao?

That's a serious party island with some shallow diving, 555.

who the heck comes to Thailand, if he doesn't like the Thai culture...

it's still alive and kicking! thank God Thailand (and Philippines) and an easy going attitude to the exchange of 'money' or as Thais like to call it 'looking after' it's why 95% of us are here! live and let live

Well if it was a well kept secret there would be a lot of guys around the world with much fatter bank accounts.....

Maybe the majority are BURMESE .Millions in Thailand.

They're are no prostitutes in Thailand but lots of ladies looking for husbands and willing to spend short time or long time with men to see if they are sexually compatible.

Don't forget the boys, looking for a correct fit coffee1.gifcoffee1.gif

Are you suggesting women are the same as shoes? Correct fit, maybe it's just you and your tiny weiner? Only Nong Natt has a gusset of a blue whale in Thailand.

My ex came to Thailand a couple of years ago, and we did a tour of a couple the red light areas in Pattaya.

"I feel really sorry for them" she said.

"I don't think the girls are that exploited " i replied

"Not THEM " she said "The men"

Prostitution is every country's worst kept secret - grow up. What amazes me is that people pay for sex, when everybody wants it.
