interesting video. I have not seen many audios of the king speaking in any language. This piqued my interest and am heading to youtube!

Did you watch this inThailand?

I simply can't get it to play.

I watched it in the USA. I have been to that daily motion website before for other videos, and never had a problem. Try a different browser. I was using Firefox.

Yes, it works very well with Firefox ( I am in Thailand ) ; from what I have seen, you can see it only with

daily motion and it's very rare video, maybe the only one with the King speaking French : keep it, nowhere else you will find an other one !

Must have been a glitch/temporary problem.

Today I could watch it.

What a contrast: this "farang" journalist standing upright to the side of the King who is sitting and almost shouting at him.

The King has to turn his head to speak to the microphone.

Imagine such a behavior in Thailand.

But as you know: farang has no manners biggrin.png

It was a very odd interview. King sitting down, reporter standing, queen looking beautiful but a bit uncomfortable.

Very good French ( some Swiss say he has a Swiss accent ) ; we see also at the end the ( very beautiful ) Queen

i couldn't detect any Swiss accent. His Majesty spoke a rather neutral French but clearly not like a native speaker. of interest is that he "rolled" the "r" when a syllable started with "r" but used the guttural "r" when the letter was embedded in a word (e.g. "federral" and "parce que").

manners are a matter of perspective. in most countries the person of "lower standing" is supposed to stand when talking to a "superior" or sit lower. the journalist had obviously no idea that, according to Thai standards, it would have been appropriate to sit or kneel on the floor during the interview.

Of course my comment was meant to be ironic.

But indeed taking a seat would have been appropriate.

Good observation, I didn't even noticed it ! as for the Swiss accent, read the first comment after the video , the guy says it's funny to hear the king speaking with a vaudois accent ( I can't really judge, I am French ) , but you are right , the king has no special accent, he is a little bit hesitating but very easy to understand ; the Queen doesn't seem at ease at all
